Have you heard of Trans Fats and how much do you know about them? 🍩

are a type of unsaturated fat that can be harmful to your heart and blood vessels, particularly artificial trans fats.

There are two types:

1️⃣ Naturally occurring trans fats
🐄 Found in small amounts in meat and dairy products.
✅ Generally safe in moderation.

2️⃣ Artificial trans fats
🔬 Created by turning liquid oils into more solid fats.
⚠️ Often found in fried foods, processed baked goods, crisps, microwave popcorn and some packaged foods.

Why are they a concern?

Artificial trans fats have been linked to:
- Higher bad cholesterol (LDL)
- Lower good cholesterol (HDL)
- Increased inflammation
- Greater risk of heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes

How to avoid them:

🔎 Check labels for "partially hydrogenated oils"
🥑 Choose whole, minimally processed foods
