I'm going to start by dispelling the myths around hypnosis.
Many people miss out on the wonderful benefits of using hypnosis within therapy because they don't understand what hypnosis actually is.
So here goes:
• The Hypnosis Shows you see on TV are all fake! 😮
• Nobody can take over your mind and make you bark like a dog. 🐕
• You will not reveal secrets. 🔐
• You will not lose control. 🧨
• You cannot do anything against your will. ✅
• Hypnosis is not mind control—it's empowering YOU. 🚀
Simply put, hypnosis is when you use your imagination and focus around a specific topic.
For example, do you have a fear or phobia around flying for example? ✈
If you do, I would guess that you are either creating catastrophic scenes of the plane crashing in your mind, getting trapped in a small confined space, seeing yourself shaking and trembling with fear, making negative statements to yourself about the flight etc etc.
THIS IS HYPNOSIS! YOU ARE USING YOUR IMAGINATION TO CREATE AN OUTCOME.
During a therapy session whatever is causing you to feel stressed, anxious, panicked, overwhelmed, guilty, angry or whatever unwanted emotion comes up, hypnosis can help you change your current unwanted feelings for something more helpful and resourceful.
