๐ŸŒ… RISE SOBER โ€“ WEEKLY RECOVERY MEETING ๐Ÿฆ…

This Mondayโ€™s topic is TRIGGERS.

Triggers can show up through people, places, emotions, memories or situations โ€” sometimes when we least expect them. Recovery gives us the chance to recognise what is happening, pause, and choose a different response.

We donโ€™t have to face those moments alone. Honesty, connection, prayer, meetings and reaching out can all help us stay grounded.

Recognise your triggers. Choose your response. Stay connected.

Monday 31st August 2026
๐Ÿ•– 7:00pm โ€“ 8:00pm
๐Ÿ’ป Zoom Meeting
๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ Topic: RECOVERY

Recovery is so much more than simply stopping drinking or using.

It is a journey of healing, growth and freedom. It is learning how to live life differently โ€” one day at a time โ€” through honesty, connection, service, fellowship and trust in a Higher Power.

For many of us, recovery begins when we finally admit that the old way of living no longer works. From there, slowly but surely, we begin to rebuild.

We learn to face life instead of escaping it.
We learn to help others instead of only thinking about ourselves.
We begin to find peace where there was once chaos, hope where there was despair, and purpose where there was once emptiness.

The AA Big Book tells us:

โ€œWe are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness.โ€

That promise is what recovery can offer โ€” not a perfect life, but a new way of life.

โœจ From surviving to thriving, one day at a time.

Whether you are new to recovery, have been around for years, are struggling, curious, or simply looking for support โ€” you are welcome.

๐ŸŒ“ SUPPORTING RECOVERY ACROSS BORDERS ๐ŸŒŽ

Tonight Iโ€™m pleased to support and share the Sikh Recovery Network International Zoom Meeting.

Recovery doesnโ€™t recognise borders, backgrounds or status. Addiction can affect any family and any community, and sometimes the hardest part is simply reaching out and admitting we need support.

Meetings like this create a space for connection, understanding, faith, prayer and hope. Whether you are struggling yourself, supporting somebody you love, or simply want to understand addiction and recovery better โ€” everyone is welcome.

๐ŸŒ Tonight โ€“ UK start time 8:00pm
๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ USA and ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Canada times are shown on the poster, with ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ Punjab joining at 1:30am.

There is strength in knowing we do not have to walk this journey alone. One conversation, one meeting and one act of reaching out can be the beginning of something completely different.

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ Faith. Fellowship. Recovery. Service.

Please share โ€” you never know who might need to see this today. โค๏ธ

๐ŸŒ… Rise Sober Monday 24th August ๐Ÿฆ…
Topic - of Spiritual Malady

The word malady simply means an illness or disorder. So when we talk about a spiritual malady in recovery, weโ€™re talking about something deeper than alcohol itself โ€” that inner restlessness, irritability, discontent, loneliness and feeling that something is missing.

For many of us, alcohol became the thing we tried to use to fill that void. It might have worked temporarily, but eventually the emptiness returned โ€” often stronger than before.

Recovery teaches us that simply removing the drink isnโ€™t always enough. We begin to fill that spiritual void in a different way: through honesty, connection, helping others, prayer, faith and a relationship with God or a Higher Power ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

โ€œWe found the Great Reality deep down within us.โ€

For me, thatโ€™s a powerful reminder that recovery isnโ€™t just about giving something up โ€” itโ€™s about discovering something greater to replace it with. Where alcohol once tried to fill the hole, we can begin allowing God, purpose, fellowship and service to fill that space instead.

๐ŸŒ… RISE SOBER โ€“ TONIGHT AT 7PM ๐Ÿฆ…

Tonight we come together for another Rise Sober meeting, and our topic is SUPPORT. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

Recovery was never meant to be walked alone. Sometimes we need someone to listen, sometimes we need someone to guide us, and sometimes simply knowing another person understands can get us through the day.

For me, one of the greatest gifts of recovery has been learning that asking for help is not weakness. Fellowship, connection, honesty and supporting one another are all part of how we keep moving forward โ€” one day at a time.

๐Ÿ’ฌ โ€œTogether we rise. Together we stay sober. One day at a time.โ€

๐ŸŒ… RISE SOBER โ€“ WEEKLY RECOVERY MEETING ๐Ÿฆ…

This Monday we come together around the topic of SUPPORT. ๐Ÿ’™

Recovery was never meant to be walked alone. Sometimes support means asking for help, sometimes it means listening, sometimes it simply means turning up and sitting alongside someone who needs to know theyโ€™re not alone.

In recovery, we learn that strength doesnโ€™t always come from doing everything ourselves. It can come from fellowship, honesty, connection, and allowing others to walk with us.

โ€œTogether we rise. Together we stay sober. One day at a time.โ€

๐ŸŒ… SIKH RECOVERY RETREAT ๐Ÿฆ…

Really pleased to support and share this from Sikh Recovery Network, who are celebrating an incredible 10 years of service to our community.

Recovery has taught me that we were never meant to do this journey alone. Whether we call it fellowship, community or Sangat, there is something incredibly powerful about one person who has walked through addiction reaching back and helping another.

This 4-day retreat in beautiful Derbyshire brings together recovery, Sikhi, spirituality, reflection and Sangat โ€” creating a safe and non-judgemental space for people affected by alcohol and substance addiction.

For me, recovery isnโ€™t simply about putting the drink down. Itโ€™s about rebuilding a life. Finding connection. Finding purpose. Learning who we are again. And, for some of us, reconnecting with the faith and spirituality that addiction took us away from.

There are so many parallels between the principles Iโ€™ve found in recovery and Sikhi โ€” seva, humility, honesty, acceptance, gratitude, Sangat and surrendering something bigger than ourselves. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

I love seeing organisations within our Panjabi and Sikh communities creating spaces where addiction can be spoken about openly, without shame or judgement. We need more conversations, more understanding and more doors open for the person who is still struggling.

Together we recover. Together we grow. And together we carry the message. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ

๐ŸŒฟ Rise Sober โ€“ Monday 10th August๐ŸŒฟ

This weekโ€™s topic: Reflection

Recovery teaches us that reflection isnโ€™t about living in the pastโ€”itโ€™s about learning from it.

Step Ten reminds us to continue taking personal inventory. We look honestly at our actions, our thoughts, and our motives, not to beat ourselves up, but to stay spiritually fit and grow one day at a time.

When we reflect with honesty, humility, and gratitude, we begin to see how far weโ€™ve come. We remember where alcohol took us, appreciate the freedom we have today, and ask ourselves one simple question:

โ€œAm I living the programme today?โ€

Whether youโ€™re celebrating another sober day or finding your way back, youโ€™re welcome. Come and share, listen, or simply be among people who understand.
