✨A little spruce up to our beautiful wellbeing hub today. We cannot wait to welcome you all tomorrow to our friendly and safe space, that we have created from scratch.
Rewind to January 2026 and after many years of studying, professional experience and lived experience of trauma and profound loss, I had a vision. Never did I image 8 months later we would have secured several funding grants, refurbished a blank canvas into a beautiful safe space whilst also developing not 1 but 2 wellbeing gardens! We are so grateful and proud of our community wellbeing hub and developing nature wellbeing programmes and the difference they have all made to date.
Words from service users have included:
‘I could stay here all day’
‘Wow, I could live here’
‘What a beautiful, peaceful place’
‘I feel so comfortable here’
‘This space makes me feel so relaxed’
Also:
‘I love your toilet roll’ 🚽 🤣
‘ I love your ‘light me when the dog farts’ candle’
More common reactions when walking up the stairs and entering the hub are:
‘Wow’
‘I was not expecting that!’
‘How on earth did you do all this?!’
Every single compliment and comment has always struck a chord in my heart. You see, I needed a safe space. I needed a space to find myself again after profound loss caused a huge mental health breakdown. Days upon weeks of not wanting to leave the house…. 2025 was a blur to me. A dark time. A sad time. A lonely time. BUT 20 months on I have started to understand that after great loss come better days. It’s not about ‘getting over it’. It’s not about ‘I’m ok’. It’s about accepting my old life, the old me has gone, but the new me is emerging. My new life holds hope, love and those I’ve lost don’t go away, they walk beside me every day.
To anyone feeling like they are lost, feeling like they cannot cope, or feel alone, I SEE YOU. Better days can come, you just have to keep moving forward. Not jumping through hoops, but 1 day at a time. That’s how I got through the last 20 months…. 1 day at a time, the good with the bad, the tears with the laughs, the happiness with the pain.
