Arthritis UK Northern Ireland

Arthritis UK Northern Ireland Arthritis UK is the new name for Versus Arthritis. We're here to create a future free of arthritis

Our name has changed, but our vision and mission remain the same. We won’t rest until everyone with arthritis has access to the treatments and support they need to live the life they choose, with real hope of a cure in the future. Arthritis UK Northern Ireland will continue to support individuals and families across the country through pain management and physical activity programmes, paediatric rheumatology clinics and family events, peer support networks, advice and information.

Are you living with a long-term condition?
Maybe you know someone who is.
If so come along to our Bangor 6-week Pain Management Programme.
The course aims to help manage the many symptoms, such as pain and fatigue, caused by a long-term condition.
Our courses are delivered by trained volunteers who have their own lived experience of a long-term condition and who all attended a similar course in the past which benefited them so much, they became part of our Arthritis UK family and trained to support others.
Anyone with any type of long-term condition is welcome.
These courses follow a weekly structure but are still relaxed enough for you to feel comfortable and confident to share your own experiences and in doing so learn from each other as well as from the evidence-based approaches offered on the course.
Here's what course participants have to say:
"My motivation is back and I'm getting more active at home".
"By using the tools I've learned I'm starting to enjoy life again".
"The first time I was so nervous I nearly backed out. Not only did I come to the course but the leaders and other people helped me through the course. It is much appreciated and it has helped me focus and be more positive and it has shown me that I am not alone".
You will also find out about all the other support and opportunities we can offer you.

Receiving an arthritis diagnosis as a young person is a scary and uncertain time.

With so much stigma around it being an "old persons disease" it can be hard to process the news. Christie is someone who knows that feeling all too well.

Diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis at 24, she felt a huge impact on her mental health after hearing the news. 3 years later, she's looking to the future.

“Arthritis initially made my life and world so much smaller, but it doesn’t have to stay that way. And yes, it’s a different life I’m living now, but one I’m so hopeful for.”
