Whether your child is returning after the holidays or getting ready to start big school for the very first time, new routines, teachers, classrooms and friendships can bring lots of big feelings.

A little preparation, reassurance and space to talk can make a huge difference. 🌟

Ask them what they’re excited about, what they’re worried about, and remind them they don’t have to have everything figured out on day one.

If you need extra support, we’re here to help. 🎒✨

Warmer weather is enjoyable for many, but it can also mean an increased risk of getting insect bites and stings 🪰

Insect bites or stings are not usually serious and get better in a few days. But sometimes they can become infected or cause a serious allergic reaction

You can often treat an insect bite or sting without seeing a GP. If anything is left on or in your skin, the first thing you need to do is remove it carefully.

If there's nothing in your skin, or you've removed it, wash your skin with soap and water to help lower the chance of infection.

The bite or sting should get better in a few days. There are some things you can do to ease your symptoms.

✔️ Take painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen if the sting is painful
✔️ Use antihistamines to relieve any itching
✔️ Use hydrocortisone cream to reduce itching and swelling

Good hand hygiene is your best defence against illnesses like upset stomachs or respiratory illnesses……

✅ Prioritise soap and water: always use running water and soap when available. If you must use hand sanitizer, carry a high-quality alcohol-based gel, but be aware that it will not protect against gastroenteritis bugs like norovirus.
✅ Time your washes: wash your hands every time after using the toilet, before preparing or eating food, and after touching any animals.
✅ Avoid touching your face: minimise the chances of transferring germs by avoiding direct contact with your mouth, nose, or any open cuts.
✅ Cough etiquette: always carry tissues, cover your nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing, bin the tissue immediately, and wash or sanitise your hands.
