🚨 A little jewellery safety reminder, rubber/silicone earring backs are NOT heat proof.

We often see rubber backs used because they’re convenient, lightweight and inexpensive. However, they’re not something we recommend wearing when using hairdryers, straighteners etc close to your jewellery.

Why?❌
Some rubber/silicone-style earring backs can soften or melt when exposed to enough heat which causes them to melt onto the post if not the skin, and if this happens it can cause significant trauma to the skin and the piercing upon removal.

We recently had a client experience exactly this - and with permission from that client I am posting some awareness on this subject. A rubber backing became stuck after exposure to a hairdryer, thankfully nothing significant enough & we were able to remove them, It’s a good reminder that something as simple as drying your hair can create a problem when heat is directed closely at your jewellery.
