🍒 June Food Hero: Cherries 🍒

Sweet, juicy and bursting with flavour, cherries are one of the highlights of early summer. Our cherry season begins in June, making now the perfect time to enjoy this delicious fruit at its freshest while supporting your local growers.

😋 Freshly harvested cherries are naturally sweeter, juicier and more nutritious.

Cherries are packed with natural goodness:

🍒Rich in vitamin C
🍒A source of fibre
🍒Contain antioxidants that help protect cells from damage
🍒Provide nutrients that support overall health and wellbeing

💡You can eat cherries fresh as a healthy snack, add to fruit salads and summer desserts or have with your morning yoghurt, porridge or smoothies.

With the recent spell of warm weather, many of us are spending more time outdoors and enjoying the sunshine. While sensible sun protection remains essential, nutrition may also play a role in supporting healthy skin.

A diet rich in colourful fruit and vegetables provides antioxidants that help protect cells from damage. Omega-3 fats from oily fish may support skin health, fibre helps nourish the gut microbiome, and maintaining healthy vitamin D levels is important for overall wellbeing.

The key message? Protect your skin from both the outside and the inside.

✔ Wear SPF 30+
✔ Avoid burning
✔ Eat a colourful, plant-rich diet
✔ Include omega-3-rich foods
✔ Enjoy sunshine safely

Tag a friend to help spread the sun safety message this summer. ☀️

We’re living longer than ever before… but are we actually ageing well?

More years don’t always mean more energy, strength or good health. The rise in ultra-processed foods, stress, poor sleep and sedentary lifestyles is leaving many people feeling older before their time.

The good news? Healthy ageing isn’t about chasing perfection or expensive “anti-ageing” trends.

It’s the simple daily habits that matter most:
🥗 Nourishing food
🚶‍♀️ Regular movement
😴 Good sleep
🧠 Managing stress
🤝 Staying connected

Small changes today can make a huge difference to how we feel in the years ahead.

Food prices might be rising, but healthy eating doesn’t have to become unaffordable. 💚

A few small changes to the way we plan, shop and cook can make a real difference to our weekly food bill - while still keeping meals nutritious and satisfying.

Some of my favourite money-saving tips:
🥕 Plan meals a few days ahead instead of a full week
🥫 Use ingredients already in your cupboards first
🧊 Keep frozen fruit and vegetables handy to cut waste
🍲 Batch cook and freeze extra portions
🌱 Add beans, lentils and extra vegetables to meals to make them go further
🛒 Shop with a list and avoid impulse buys

Healthy eating should be realistic, affordable and enjoyable for everyone.

Fennel Salad with Sardines 🥗🐟

May Food Hero: Radishes

Crunchy, peppery and packed with goodness - radishes are one of the easiest ways to eat seasonally in late spring and early summer across the UK. Often overlooked, they’re at their best right now: fresher, tastier and grown much closer to home.

Radishes may be small, but they’re full of benefits:
🥗High in vitamin C
🥗A source of fibre
🥗Contain antioxidants that support overall health

Easy ways to enjoy them:
🥗Slice into salads for a fresh crunch
🥗Roast whole with olive oil and herbs for a sweeter flavour
🥗Enjoy pickled or fermented
🥗Blend the tops into pesto or stir through soups

Choosing seasonal produce is better for you, better for the planet and better for local producers 🌍

Mental wellbeing isn’t just about managing stress when it becomes overwhelming — it’s about the small things we do every day to support our mind and body before we reach burnout.

Simple habits can make a real difference:
✨ staying hydrated
✨ eating balanced meals
✨ reducing excess caffeine and alcohol
✨ prioritising sleep
✨ taking time to slow down and reset

When life gets busy, these are often the first things to slip — but they’re also some of the most important foundations for resilience, energy and overall wellbeing.

This Mental Health Awareness Week is a great reminder that preventative action starts with everyday habits 💚

What helps you unwind and reset during stressful periods?
