Let's talk numbers & nervous systems!
I seen the Steven Barlett video, where he says 2 glasses of wine stopped him being able to work hard enough/function properly for 3 days after. OK, Fair enough.. alcohol doesn't agree with some people, but what gets to me is the excessive need to push to be better, do better, be the best version of you ALL the time!
Society is more stressed and anxious than ever, and no wonder. We are told to track the numbers...
- how many hours we sleep
- how many calories we consume
- how many minutes we meditate
- how many steps we take
- how many people liked our post
- how many followers we have
Let's not forget smart watches.
I know a lot of you probably have them and I'm sorry but they are my worst nightmare π€£ I don't want to know my heart rate unless I have to or whose at my door when I'm not home and I don't want to see watapp messages when I've put my phone away! There is no switch off time.
Everyone's different I know but I guess my point is, humans aren't robots! How we feel is not determined by data.... our bodies tell us this. No wonder our nervous systems are more heightened than ever, the expectations placed on people is insane!
Our worth shouldn't be measured by how many followers we have, or who comments on our post. If posting on social media for likes is how you value yourself then there is deeper questions to be asked π
Life was simpler pre Internet, pre unrealistic expectations!
Yes you can track these things but don't let numbers rule your life. Allow yourself to do nothing, rest and have FUN amongst it all.... because at the end of the day these numbers mean absolutely F.all if your heart and your head aren't content!!
Sorry Steven but roll on Friday so I can pour myself a glass of red!!!! ππππ
