Did you know that the UK government is introducing mandatory folic acid fortification of most non-wholemeal wheat flour?

This means synthetic folic acid will be added to a huge range of everyday foods. Many breads, cereals and other products already contain added folic acid, but this policy will extend its reach even further across the food supply.

What concerns me is that so few people seem to be aware this is happening, and the potential health implications it could have for so many people.

I would really encourage you to watch this short video. In it, doctors discuss synthetic folic acid, why they regard it as a drug rather than a food, and why they have concerns about what they describe as the mass medication of an entire population without informed consent.

This is something people should know about and have the opportunity to consider for themselves.

Most of us are reactive when it comes to our wellbeing.

We wait until we’re exhausted.
Until we’re struggling to sleep.
Until stress becomes our normal.
Until we don’t quite feel like ourselves anymore.

Then we start looking for answers.

But what if we took a different approach?

What if we became curious about our health before our body demanded our attention?

The reality is that many people spend years living with low energy, poor sleep, brain fog, digestive issues, or simply feeling “off” and assume it’s just part of getting older, being busy, or everyday life.

I’m a big believer that awareness is one of the most powerful tools we have.

The more we understand about what’s happening inside our bodies, the more informed our choices become.

Have you ever heard the saying:
“Listen to your body when it whispers, so you won’t have to hear it scream.”

It’s something I speak about with so many of my clients - and something I’m constantly working on myself too.

Our bodies do so much for us, yet we often put them through so much.

Sometimes we notice a feeling and wonder:

Is it just a sensation?
A symptom of something deeper?
Or simply a side effect of stress, exhaustion, or overwhelm?

Whatever it may be, try to see it as a gentle message from your body - asking you to slow down, check in, and listen.

Take the rest day.

Nourish yourself properly.

Do the things that restore you instead of depleting you.
Your body is always communicating with you.

When was the last time you truly listened?

We often talk about how reflexology feels - calming, grounding, restorative.
But what’s happening underneath that?

A double-blind randomised controlled trial (the gold standard in research) looked at what happens in the body during a reflexology session.

Researchers measured real-time cardiovascular responses in healthy volunteers and found:
✔️ Immediate changes in haemodynamics (how blood flows through the body)
✔️ A measurable effect on cardiac function, specifically the cardiac index
✔️ Effects observed during targeted reflexology on foot areas linked to the heart

In simple terms?
This wasn’t just “feeling relaxed” — the body showed objective, physiological changes in real time.

It’s a powerful reminder that touch therapies like reflexology can have measurable impacts beyond relaxation alone.

Some of you may already know me from coming to see me for Reflexology or some of the other treatments I offer!

For those who are new here, I’m Mairead - the face behind Vedra Therapies.

Over the last 8 years, through my work, I’ve started to notice a common pattern…

And for some reason, we wait until something feels really wrong before we start asking questions.
