What can you learn at DASH?

Our Skills for Life & Work programme gives young people opportunities to develop skills that can support them in everyday life, learning and the workplace.

From building confidence in communication and teamwork to developing independence and preparing for work, learners are supported to develop at their own pace and work towards their individual goals.

Welcome to DASH!

DASH (Direct Access Skills Hub) is a supportive space where young disabled people and those with long-term health conditions can learn, develop new skills and work towards their goals.

Through our Skills for Life & Work programme, learners have opportunities to gain qualifications, build confidence and independence, develop practical life and employability skills, and prepare for their next step.

From learning in the classroom to work experience and activities with other organisations, there's plenty happening at DASH.

🌱 Our Skills for Life and Work students recently welcomed Belfast City Council's Environmental Outreach team back for their third session at DASH!

This time, the students got hands-on by planting their own cress and learning more about growing food and making sustainable choices in everyday life.

The session built on their previous workshops around recycling, reducing food waste and making the most of the resources we have.

A big thank you to the Environmental Outreach team for another fun and practical session!

🍰 A successful Bake Sale at DASH!

This week, our Skills for Life and Work students put their skills into practice by hosting a Bake Sale at our Belfast HQ.

From serving customers and handling money to managing stock, communicating with others and working as a team, the students had the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a real-life setting.

Thanks to everyone who donated baked goods, stopped by and supported our students on the day. Together, we raised an amazing £64.13! 🎉

Do you work with young people who are receiving their A-level and GCSE results this month?

Young Social Innovators, the Jobs and Benefits Office and Belfast City Council are joining forces to deliver a free drop-in event for young people in Years 12, 13 and 14 - bringing together 30+ service providers and dedicated careers guidance under one roof.

Whatever results day brings, the goal is to give young people real options and support to plan their next steps, whether that's alternative education, training and skills, university, tech or a chance to figure all this out, we're here to provide you with the opportunity that's right for you!
