And it is AI. I see more and more people leaning into the convenience of ChatGPT, having not only their images and posters but even captions generated by it. And this is something I refuse to do.
Reading Instagram posts of late feels like watching Black Mirror. Points may be coming across but personalities, souls and human touch are fading away.
Yes, it is convenient, efficient and designed to support the META machine. But what I'd rather support is humans, organic connection, authenticity and trust.
I want you to see my imperfect captions.
I want you to see my awkward phrasing and perhaps notice that I am not British.
I want you to feel into what I am saying and maybe resonate with you.
I want us to connect over shared human experience and not "perfected" expression of a computer's hard drive.
And I want to make sure that what I do does not affect the work of others. That it doesn't affect creators, artists, teachers, writers, musicians. That it doesn't affect the Earth. And that it builds connections, not breaks them.
And maybe this means I will have to spend more time writing a post. Or maybe it means I won't get as high of an engagement. But at least it means communication threads and connections I build stem from my authentic expression.
With love π€
