🕺Dementia Disco is coming to Berwick!🕺

We are delighted to let you all know that Tweed Connections has been working with the team behind 'Dementia Disco' to bring it to Berwick!

Open to everyone who is living with dementia, caring for someone with dementia or looking for a few hours of friendship, laughter, dancing and fun!

‘How will I get there?' is a question we are often asked when meeting Day Centre clients for the first time.

Our Transport Service collects clients from home across Berwick, North Northumberland and the Scottish Borders and returns them home safely at the end of the day.

Clients have said they enjoy seeing parts of the area they may not have seen in a long time, as well as the chance to chat with our staff and other clients in a small group.

Plus our fleet of cars are wheelchair accessible.

Tickets now on sale!

We can't wait to welcome you to our Cash Bingo and Disco Fundraiser on Friday 25th September!

- Doors open 7pm
- Eyes down at 7.30pm
- In the function room at Northern View (TD15 2JL)

Entry is £15 per person which includes bingo book and a welcome cocktail

This week we took delivery of some new chairs for the Day Centre in our customary shades of blue and green.
In Colour Therapy:

🌊 Blue has a soothing effect and can help with communication, breathing and lowering blood pressure.

🌲 Green brings harmony and promotes relaxation, pain relief and healing.

Together they can help quieten frustration and reduce stress. All of which benefits our clients!

At Tweed Connections we understand the difficulties of balancing work and family life with caring for a loved one. We also know how desperately family carers need some time for themselves.

On behalf of us all at Tweed Connections we would like to thank everyone who supported the Jimmy 'The Brick' Memorial Football Match last weekend.

An astonishing £1250 was raised which is being split between Tweed Connections and Berwick and District Friends of Dementia (Alz Cafe).

A special note of thanks to Ashley who organised the event, her support team, the players, officials and everyone who donated raffle prizes. The £625 will go into our Clients' Fund for days out and treats and will make such a difference. We cannot thank you enough.

We have recently added Seated Yoga to our Day Centre activities schedule and it's going down a treat!

Using out Tiny Tablet interactive touchscreen to support the staff, our clients are encouraged to do some gentle movement that helps with joint pain, balance and flexibility. Some of our clients find it so relaxing they also enjoy a little nap!

We currently have a small amount of availability in our Day Centre. If you would like to discuss joining us, please get in touch!

ARE YOUR RELATIVES SAFE FROM SPAM
?
Following an unpleasant incident yesterday we realised not everyone has spam protection on their phones . Receiving spam calls can upset elderly people and disorientate them .
It is relatively simple to stop these calls ;

1.Landline
Register your number with Telephone Preference Services on
https://www.tpsonline.org.uk/register

2.Mobile phone
You can also register your mobile phone by texting TPS to 85095

Both these services are free but take up to 28 days to work fully.

Most phones have built in settings to stop spam calls , look in settings for an option to block unknown numbers .
