3 years ago we had an idea. We got a little bit of funding from Active Devon to fund a group of Over 55’s surfing. We had 12 places. We advertised the spaces, not really knowing what to expect but they went within half an hour! The sessions were a great success and we were provided more funding to carry the sessions on. Our oldest surfer was 80!
Now, 3 years later those nervous individuals have evolved in to a group of hard core, all weather surfers. We have accidentally fostered a whole new community of like minded mature people who met on the waves and have made lifelong connections. The North Devon Surf School now has a dedicated weekly over 55’s surf club which runs on a Wednesday.
If you think you’re too old to start something new, you’re not! Join the gym, start Pilates, walk the 630 miles of the Southwest Coast path, come surfing!! Invest in your health and fitness now, the best is yet to come 🏄‍♀️🏄🏄‍♂️

September dates dropped! Our new menopause course has landed for September. If you are menopausal, peri-menopausal or just want to get ahead of the game to make that transition as smooth as possible, this course is for you. We have partnered with and to bring you this fun and informative 4 week course. You don’t need to have surfed before, al equipment is included, we have wetsuits to fit everyone and it’s run by an all female team. There is nothing to stop you! We have 3 spaces available on our Young Carer sessions that run on Saturday afternoon.
These sessions are fully funded thanks to the generosity of Sport England.
In order to qualify, you must be 8-18 and be a young carer for a loved one.
These sessions provide some much needed ‘me time’ out of the caring environment, meeting and socialising with other young carers in the community.
These sessions will run all through the year until November. All equipment is included.
