Kenwith Castle Summer Fayre 🌞🏰

What a fantastic afternoon we had at Kenwith Castle’s Summer Fayre! It was a wonderful day filled with lots of laughter, ice creams, dancing and plenty of smiles. 🍦💃

A massive thank you to all of our fantastic stallholders and to everyone who came along to support the day. Your support helped make it such a special afternoon.

The ballet dancers from Sarah Anne Westcott Dance Studios were, as always, absolutely amazing and put on a beautiful performance for everyone to enjoy. 🩰✨

A special shout-out to Sue and Bart from Highford Donkeys for bringing along the donkeys and making the afternoon extra special. 🫏❤️ We were also delighted to present them with a donation from the Care South Chairman’s Fund on the day, as a thank you for the wonderful work they do.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the Summer Fayre such a fantastic day. We are already looking forward to the next one! 🎉

Jack is very much a firm favourite within our team and, of course, with our wonderful residents. ❤️

Jack is a fantastic role model who continually supports and encourages his whole team. He has such a beautiful, caring approach with all of our residents and always goes above and beyond to make a difference.

We are also incredibly proud that Jack has been nominated for the Care South Star Awards – Carer of the Year! ⭐

🍦 Anyone for ice cream? 🍦

The Activities Team at Kenwith have outdone themselves once again!

A special thank you to Lydia for designing and creating our fantastic new ice cream cart. It has been a huge hit with both our residents and staff.

The cart has been especially uplifting for residents who are unable to, or prefer not to, leave their rooms, bringing smiles straight to their door. With a selection of delicious flavours, the friendliest ice cream vendor in town, and cheerful music as it makes its way around Kenwith, it's impossible not to smile!

A wonderful example of how the little things can make a big difference to our resident's day. Well done, Lydia and Michelle 🍨💙

We can't wait to welcome everyone to our fantastic Annual Summer Fayre!

Come along for a fun-filled day with something for all the family. Enjoy delicious burgers, tasty ice cream and Twistatos , while browsing our wonderful selection of stalls.

You'll also have the chance to meet the beautiful donkeys, who are always a firm favourite with visitors! 🫏💛

Yesterday, we rolled out the red carpet to celebrate the incredible team at Kenwith Castle! 🌟

We know that every single member of our team is amazing, and the Kenwith Oscars are our way of recognising not only everyone's hard work and dedication but also those who consistently go the extra mile.

Each year, Care South hosts its Star Awards across the organisation, and we're incredibly proud to have had several of our team recognised as finalists. We also wanted to celebrate the achievements of our own wonderful staff here at Kenwith Castle.

A huge congratulations to everyone who received an award – you should all be so proud! 👏💙

The afternoon was filled with delicious food prepared by the brilliant Bela and his team, drinks, lots of laughter, a few happy tears, dancing, and even some impressive balloon balancing, courtesy of our awesome Senior Carer, Kathryn! 🎈💃🍽️

It was a truly special afternoon, celebrating the people who make Kenwith Castle such a wonderful place to live and work.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the afternoon so memorable. Most importantly, thank you to our amazing team for everything you do, every single day. Your kindness, compassion, and dedication make a real difference to the lives of our residents and their families.

🫏 Donkeys Visit Kenwith 🫏

We had a very special visit at Kenwith from two beautiful donkeys, and it was a truly heart-warming experience for our residents.

Animal visits bring so much joy and connection. They can create opportunities for conversation, encourage memories to be shared, reduce feelings of loneliness, and provide comfort and emotional wellbeing through meaningful interactions. The presence of animals can bring a sense of calm, happiness, and familiarity, helping residents to reconnect with special moments from their past.

This visit was particularly meaningful for one of our residents, who had previously owned donkeys herself and has many treasured photographs and fond memories of her time with them. She had no idea what was about to happen, making it an even more special surprise when two real donkeys walked into her room to visit her.

There were tears of happiness all around, and the moment meant the absolute world to her. Seeing her face light up as she reconnected with something so important from her past was incredibly special and a beautiful reminder of the importance of person-centred care.

Creating moments like these, which celebrate each resident’s life story, memories, and passions, is at the heart of what we do at Kenwith. 💚

🌿 Namaste Care at Kenwith 🌿

Our new Namaste Care room has been a wonderful success since opening last month, and it has been lovely to see residents enjoying all that the space has to offer.

The calming environment, sensory lights, relaxing projections, doll therapy, and soothing foot spas have created opportunities for residents to feel comforted, engaged, and at ease. While the room was designed with our residents living with cognitive impairment in mind, it has also been enjoyed by many of our residential residents, who have benefited from the peaceful and meaningful experiences it provides.

The portable projectors have been a particular highlight, bringing the outdoors to residents who are unable to access outdoor spaces as easily. From beautiful nature scenes to familiar environments, these experiences provide stimulation, relaxation, and moments of joy for those who may not always be able to access outdoor spaces.

Namaste Care is all about seeing the person behind the care needs — creating moments of connection, promoting wellbeing, and offering residents opportunities to experience comfort, enjoyment, and meaningful engagement.

We are delighted with the positive impact the Namaste Care room is already having and look forward to continuing to provide these special experiences for our residents. 💚

🌟 Make a Wish – Fred’s Fishing Day at Kenwith 🎣

Fred has always been a keen fisherman, and we are so lucky to have such a peaceful lake setting here at Kenwith, which brings him so much calm and joy.

One of Fred’s wishes was simple but special — to go fishing again. With the support of our fantastic Activities Team, we were able to make this happen, ensuring everything was perfectly in place for his morning by the lake.

Fred had a truly wonderful time and hasn’t stopped smiling since! He’s been proudly telling everyone that the fish were “massive” and that he caught seven fish in total! 🐟🐟🐟

The joy on his face says it all, and he is already planning his next fishing trip. This time, he’s requested a hot flask and a mini picnic for the afternoon by the water.

Moments like these are what our Make a Wish programme is all about — creating memories, happiness, and meaningful experiences for our residents. 💙
