“Alison’s knowledge and experience has helped me lower my blood pressure and cholesterol levels. I have changed my eating habits and, with the knowledge I now have, I am at a much healthier point than before.”

I love receiving feedback like this because it highlights something many people don’t realise.

When we think about high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or even blood sugar issues, sugar is often left out of the conversation. Most people associate sugar with weight gain or diabetes, but they don’t always appreciate the impact it can have on overall heart health and wellbeing too.

When I work with clients, I don’t focus on just one number or symptom. I look at the bigger picture. What does their diet look like? How active are they? How are stress levels affecting daily habits? Is digestive health playing a role? These pieces can all influence how someone feels and how their body responds.

If you’re looking for simple steps to start this week, try:

Swap fizzy drinks for water, sparkling water, or herbal teas

Add one extra vegetable to your lunch and dinner

Start reading food labels and notice where hidden sugars may be creeping in

Small, consistent changes can often make a bigger difference than extreme diets.

Buying fresh fish from a reputable Fish Mongers is a great way to consume a whole foods healthy meal. This Tuna is bought from - a family run business here in Essex, currently in Billericay High Street every Thursday.

Fresh Tuna provides a high quality protein meal (approx 25-30g per serving).
It is rich in omega supporting all overall health - unlike the tinned variety which is not categorised as oily fish.
Fresh Tuna also provides us with a range of B vitamins (including Vitamin B12) to support nerve function and energy…. Selenium to protect our cells from damage…. Iodine & Phosphorus to support our metabolic health.

I cooked it and added a home made garlic and parsley sauce, served on a bed of puy lentils with some asparagus and broccoli. So good my husband said it was “one of the nicest steaks I have had” 👍😀

Hot flushes. Weight gain that seems to appear overnight. Brain fog that makes work feel harder than it used to.

If you’re a woman in midlife and wondering, “Is this just how it is now?” you’re certainly not alone. One of the biggest misconceptions I see is that many women assume these changes are something they simply have to put up with until they eventually pass. As a result, they often spend years feeling less like themselves, with their confidence, energy and focus taking a hit along the way.

A recent client told me:

“I’m so glad I’ve sought support from you about my health at midlife, otherwise I wouldn’t be so clued into the changes.”

What I love about this feedback is that knowledge creates choice.

When I work with women in midlife, I don’t just focus on the symptoms. I look at the bigger picture. Things like daily food choices, physical activity, stress levels, sleep habits and digestive health can all play a role in how someone feels.

If you’re struggling with hot flushes, weight changes or brain fog, here are three simple things you can try this week:

✓ Aim for a 30-minute walk most days

✓ Cut back on excess sugar from biscuits, cakes and pastries

✓ Prioritise 8 hours of sleep with a consistent bedtime and wake-up time

Small, sustainable habits often make a bigger difference than extreme approaches.

If this sounds familiar, I’d love to hear from you. Reply below, send me a DM, or book a call to explore how nutritional therapy may be able to support you.

When you spend all day looking after everyone else, it’s easy to lose sight of your own health.

One of my clients, a busy teacher and mum, came to me feeling frustrated that her weight kept creeping up despite constantly being on the go.

Her days were full of rushed meals, picking at food between tasks, coming home exhausted and then cooking for everyone else before finally thinking about herself. Sound familiar?

What I often see in situations like this is that it’s not just about food choices alone. We have to look at the bigger picture too.

Stress, lack of routine, eating on the go and never fully switching off can all influence our eating habits and make it harder to feel balanced and consistent.

Rather than following another strict plan, we focused on small changes that actually fit her life.

A few simple things that helped included:

• Having a protein-based breakfast each morning instead of skipping breakfast or relying on toast alone
• Creating a more consistent night-time routine and aiming for at least 7 hours sleep
• Leaving 3 to 4 hours between dinner and bedtime where possible

Small habits really do add up over time, especially when they feel realistic enough to stick with.

If you’ve been struggling with weight changes and feel like life always gets in the way of looking after yourself, you’re very welcome to DM me or book a call for a chat

This client came to me feeling fed up with trying to lose weight without seeing lasting results. Like so many people, she felt overwhelmed by conflicting advice and unsure what would actually work for her long term.

We didn’t focus on restriction or quick fixes. Instead, we worked on simple, sustainable changes to her eating habits that felt realistic and manageable in everyday life.

Over time, those small changes added up. Not only did the weight begin to come off naturally, but she also felt more informed, more confident in her food choices and healthier than she had in a long time.

This is why I always say that lasting change doesn’t have to mean doing everything perfectly. Often it starts with the right support and a plan that feels achievable for you.

If you’ve been struggling with your weight and feel stuck with where to start, you’re very welcome to reach out or book a call for a chat 💛

I have a range of programmes tailored to suit your goals. As a guide:

6 Week Programme: supports 3-4 kilo weight loss

3 Month Programme: supports 4-8 kilo weight loss

6 Month Programme: supports 8 kilos + weight loss

Clients come to me for support and help with weight loss. Many have tried a number of diets and whilst some may work at the time, as soon as they stop their weight returns as soon as the diet stops (and sometimes they end up heavier than they started).

We all try to look for reasons as to why weight loss can be challenging, but the truth is that there are so many variables at play, it is difficult to identify and put in place the right nutrition strategy for yourself.

I will spend time understanding how your body is working, how your lifestyle is impacting your nutrition and what foods are working/ not working for you. Together we will agree a programme to help you achieve success. All programmes are tailored but as a general guide:

6 Week Programme: supports 3-4 kilo weight loss

3 Month Programme: supports 4-8 kilo weight loss

6 Month Programme: supports 8 kilos + weight loss
