CANCER TREATMENT IS NOT ALWAYS THE TIME TO STOP MOVING COMPLETELY.

Cancer and its treatment can have a significant effect on physical activity, strength, fitness and confidence.

Cancer prehabilitation asks an important question:

What can we safely and appropriately help this person continue doing?

For some people that may involve structured strength and cardiovascular exercise.

For others, the starting point may be much simpler.

There is no one-size-fits-all cancer exercise programme.

Exercise should be adapted around the individual, their treatment, symptoms, current physical ability and medical guidance.

Our aim isn't to push people through treatment.

It's to help people maintain or rebuild as much physical capacity and confidence as is appropriate for them.

INTRODUCING CANCER PREHABILITATION & REHABILITATION AT TCHP.

We’re incredibly proud to officially launch our new specialist service supporting people before, during and after cancer treatment.

Cancer treatment can affect strength, fitness, mobility, energy levels, confidence and the ability to complete everyday activities.

Our aim is to provide individualised physiotherapy and exercise support throughout that journey.

Support may include:

Preparing physically before treatment

Maintaining strength and physical function during treatment where appropriate

Managing deconditioning

Rebuilding strength and fitness following treatment

Improving confidence with movement and exercise

Supporting a return to everyday life, work and physical activity

Every person and every cancer journey is different.

That’s why our service starts with an individual assessment and is progressed around you, your treatment, your symptoms and your goals.

Our service is designed to complement rather than replace your oncology team, medical treatment or existing NHS care.

If you or somebody close to you would like to understand how we may be able to help, send us a confidential message containing:

🚨 A NEW SPECIALIST TCHP SERVICE LAUNCHES TOMORROW.

This is more than just a new service announcement.

It has been built from real experience, a real understanding of the challenges people face, and a real belief that our local community deserves better support.

When someone is preparing for, going through or recovering from cancer treatment, the right support can make a huge difference.

It can help people feel stronger, more confident, more capable and more in control at a time when that matters most.

That is exactly why we’ve created this.

Tomorrow, we’ll be sharing the full announcement , including what the service is, who it is for and why we believe it is so important.

πŸ‘€ Keep an eye on tomorrow.

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ FROM REHAB TO RUNNING STRONGER πŸ’ͺ

A huge well done to Jenny Mitchell, who completed the Boro 10K today! πŸ‘

Jenny’s journey with TCHP originally started as a rehab patient, working to get back to doing the things she enjoys.

Since finishing rehab, she’s transitioned into Personal Training with Shauna and has been putting in the work consistently for the last few months.

The focus has been simple:

πŸ’ͺ Getting stronger in the gym
πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Building her running performance
⏱️ Improving her 5K and 10K times
πŸ“ˆ Continuing to progress beyond rehab

And today was another opportunity to put all that hard work into action at the Boro 10K.

This is exactly what we want at TCHP β€” rehab shouldn’t just be about getting out of pain. It should help you get back to performing, progressing and achieving new goals.

Massive congratulations, Jenny β€” and brilliant work from Shauna supporting her along the way! πŸ‘πŸ§‘

A new specialist has joined the TCHP team.

Meet Jason Marsh, our new Lower Limb Specialist Physiotherapist.

Jason joins TCHP as we continue to expand our physiotherapy and rehabilitation services and develop our specialist lower-limb pathway.

In this video, Jason talks about:

β€’ His background as a physiotherapist
β€’ His interest in lower-limb rehabilitation
β€’ The patients he enjoys working with
β€’ His approach to assessment and rehabilitation
β€’ Why he chose to join TCHP

Adding another specialist physiotherapist means more appointment availability, greater clinical expertise and more support for people managing knee, hip, ankle and lower-limb conditions.

Welcome to the team, Jason.

Lower-limb rehabilitation requires more than a quick assessment and a sheet of exercises.

At TCHP, we want to support patients through the entire rehabilitation journey.

That means:

βœ” Understanding the injury or condition
βœ” Managing pain and symptoms
βœ” Restoring movement
βœ” Rebuilding strength
βœ” Developing confidence
βœ” Returning to running, work or sport
βœ” Testing whether you are genuinely ready to progress

With Jason Marsh joining the team and Tom moving to TCHP full-time, we will have greater capacity to support people with complex knee, hip, ankle and lower-limb rehabilitation.

Whether you are recovering from surgery, managing a longstanding problem or working towards a return to sport, your rehabilitation should be built around you and your goals.

πŸ“© Message β€œLOWER LIMB” to enquire about an assessment with the TCHP team.
