Today is the day! 🎉
The Improvement Team are now at the Commitment to Carers Conference 2026 and we'd love to see you!
The conference is running TODAY (Monday 8th June) from 10am to 7pm at Eureka! Science + Discovery, Victoria Place, Wallasey CH44 6NR.
It's completely free and open to any of Wirral's 33,000 unpaid carers.
Come and find our stall, grab a chat, and find out how the Improvement Team can support you. There are loads of services and organisations here today - if you have caring responsibilities, this is your day. 💜
Many carers don't realise they're identified as a carer or that there's dedicated support available to them - so please share this with anyone who might need it.

See you there! 👋

From 'daunting' to 'really enjoyable' - in one day. 🌟

On 4th June we made history (well, a little bit of it!) by running our very first joint QSIR Fundamentals training between WUTH and our Wirral Community Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust colleagues, and the feedback has been brilliant.

Everyone left with the tools and confidence to start making improvements in their own areas.

Interested in joining a future session? Get in touch with the Improvement Team to find out when the next one is running. 💜

We’re proud to celebrate a fantastic achievement within our Improvement Team 👏

Congratulations to Andrew Sutcliffe, Programme Manager, who has been named WUTH Employee of the Month (Support Services)! 🌟

Andrew has made an incredible impact through his leadership of the Wirral One Plan Improvement Programme, helping to improve patient flow across the Emergency Department and hospital wards.

While his role is not patient-facing, the difference he makes is felt directly in patient care - reducing delays, improving experiences, and supporting safer, more efficient pathways.
Colleagues describe Andrew as friendly, supportive, and approachable, with a talent for bringing people together and keeping teams motivated - even under pressure. His professionalism, resilience, and willingness to go above and beyond truly set him apart.

Alongside this, Andrew has recently qualified as a QSIR trainer, helping build improvement skills across the Trust 👏
A truly deserved recognition - well done Andrew, and thank you for everything you do!

A great session today with colleagues from WUTH and community services at our Leading Self training 👏
Participants got hands-on with the Mr Potato Head PDSA activity, exploring how small, structured tests of change can support learning and improvement in practice.
Fantastic engagement from everyone involved - thank you for your contributions and willingness to learn together.

Too many people start at step 5…
That’s why the same problems keep coming back.

Here’s the flow most people miss:

👁️ Observe — Don’t jump to conclusions. Notice what’s really happening.
🔍 Analyze — Data > opinions. Understand the facts.
🧠 Infer — Connect the dots. What’s actually causing the issue?
💬 Communicate — If you can’t explain it clearly, you don’t understand it well enough.
⚙️ Solve — Only now do you fix the problem.
