One of the biggest misconceptions in aesthetics is that spending more automatically means getting better results.

Honestly, I’ve seen people spend thousands on treatments and skincare that were never actually right for their skin in the first place. Not because the treatments were “bad”, but because there was no real strategy behind them.

Good aesthetics isn’t about constantly chasing trends or doing the most expensive thing. It’s about knowing where your money makes a difference and where you’re better off keeping things simple.

If I were spending my own money on aesthetics, there are certain things I’d absolutely prioritise and others I wouldn’t waste a penny on. Some of the best long term investments aren’t always the most obvious ones ➡️

If your skin suddenly feels oilier, more congested or more sensitive in summer, it doesn’t automatically mean your skin is getting worse. More often, it’s a sign your routine hasn’t adapted to what your skin actually needs right now.

This is the time of year where I see people either over strip their skin trying to control oil, stop all their active skincare completely, or become inconsistent with SPF and end up wondering why their pigmentation suddenly flares up.

Summer skin needs a slightly different approach. More balance, more protection and a lot less overdoing it.

These are the three most common skincare mistakes I see every summer, and what I’d do instead to keep skin healthy, clear and stable ➡️

Acne scars can be incredibly frustrating because they don’t behave like normal breakouts. You can finally get the acne under control and still feel like your skin never fully recovered.

One of the biggest mistakes I see is people throwing endless products at acne scarring expecting skincare alone to completely smooth the skin.

The reality is that true scarring sits much deeper, which means treating it properly usually needs collagen stimulation and skin remodelling, not just stronger acids or more exfoliation.

Some of the best results come from consistent, layered treatment plans that strengthen and rebuild the skin gradually over time.

If I had acne scarring myself and wanted to improve it effectively while still being able to get on with normal life, this is exactly the approach I’d take ➡️

Three skin fixes every busy mum needs to know about 👇🏼

When you’re running on broken sleep, school runs, and whatever’s left of your coffee, your skin is usually the first thing to show it. The good news is you don’t need a complicated routine or a lot of time. You just need a few things that actually work.

🌙 1. A good retinoid, used consistently

This is the one product that consistently makes the biggest difference to skin quality over time. It speeds up cell turnover, stimulates collagen, improves texture, and addresses pigmentation, all while you sleep. Start low, use it two to three times a week, and build from there. The results compound over months, and it’s genuinely one of the best investments you can make in your skin.

💧 2. Skin boosters

If your skin looks flat, tired, and like it’s lost its hydration no matter what you put on it, skin boosters work at a level topical products simply can’t reach. Treatments like Profhilo or polynucleotides restore hydration and skin quality from within, and the difference in how the skin looks and feels afterwards is something patients consistently describe as their skin coming back to life. One course and most mums wonder why they waited so long.

☀️ 3. SPF every single day

It takes thirty seconds. It protects everything else you’re doing for your skin. And it’s the single most effective anti-ageing step available. Keep it next to your toothbrush so it becomes as automatic as brushing your teeth.

✨ Bonus tip? Sleep when you can. Cortisol from chronic sleep deprivation directly drives collagen breakdown and inflammation. Your skin repairs itself overnight, and it needs the time to do it.

What works for you? Drop your tips below 👇🏼

Motherhood, stress, hormones and years of putting everyone else first all show up in the face eventually. Most of the women I treat aren’t looking for huge change - they just want to look fresher, healthier and more like themselves again.

You usually don’t need a large treatment plan or an overcomplicated treatment plan to get there. In fact, some of the best results come from improving skin quality, hydration and collagen support first.

These are the three treatments I recommend most often to tired mums who just want their glow back ➡️

There are a lot of things in aesthetics that have somehow become “normal” that I don’t think should be.

Overfilled faces, copy and paste treatment plans, chasing trends instead of understanding anatomy, saying yes to treatments that don’t actually solve the problem.

For me, good aesthetics has never been about doing the most. It’s about knowing when to treat, when to hold back and how to create results that still feel like you.

As an aesthetics nurse, these are the things I’ll always normalise instead. The conversations I have every day in clinic, the approach I take with patients and the standards I think this industry should have far more of ➡️

If you’re spending money on skincare but not really seeing the results, it’s usually not about needing more; it’s about spending in the right places.

A lot of what’s pushed online makes it easy to overspend on things that don’t actually move your skin forward, while the basics get overlooked.

Once you understand what’s worth investing in and what isn’t, everything becomes much more straightforward 👉🏽
