When my body felt like it had stopped making sense, this was one of the places I came for support. 🩵

At the worst point of the numbness I was experiencing earlier this year, I had several weeks of acupuncture with the wonderful Cara at

At that point I didn’t have answers. I was dealing with altered sensation, numbness and grief. Alongside all the medical investigations, acupuncture became a space where I could slow down, reconnect with my body and feel like I was actually doing something to support myself.

And I became fascinated by the points Cara chose and the beautiful names behind them…

HT7 — Spirit Gate
Traditionally associated with calming and settling the spirit.

KI24 — Spirit Burial Ground
Used to calm the Shen (“spirit” or mind) where anxiety, agitation, emotional distress or a sense of being unsettled is present.

DU20 — One Hundred Meetings (my favourite name!)
A point at the crown of the head, traditionally used to bring together and regulate the body’s energies.

BL58 — Fly & Scatter
BL60 — Kunlun Mountain
Points Cara used as part of the work around my lower body and legs. Traditionally used for pain and tension through the legs, back and neck, helping encourage movement through the Bladder meridian.

Cara also used a Teishin needle, working with a local–middle–distal approach — something you’ll see in the clips I’m sharing.

I’m still on my journey of understanding what my body has been doing.
Did these sessions help me during a frightening and uncertain few months? Absolutely.

They gave me calm. They helped me feel more connected to my body when parts of it felt strangely disconnected. And, most importantly, I felt incredibly safe and cared for in Cara’s hands.

So this is really just a little public thank you. 🩵

Thank you Cara for being one of the people who helped me through a period when I was genuinely scared about what was happening to my body.

Sometimes healing isn’t one treatment or one answer.

Sometimes it’s all the people and practices that help you find your way back to yourself. 🌿

Honoured to have been able to be a practitioner for and their most recent retreat.

Massive appreciation to all the women who were there on the day. To and the whole team for the planning, organisation & detail that goes into offering these days and residentials to women who need the pause.

We came together to Follow the Thread.
Starting with a group grounding.
An empowering movement session.
A guided meditation and sound journey.
Free writing journalling helping us to bloom.

Everyone took away with them a physical thread, wildflowers to plant, and a sense of connection to the women who came before us, and inspiration for the women who come after us.

Follow along, maybe you want to apply or nominate a woman in your life. These retreats are fully funded, fully needed and fully appreciated.

So much gratitude for the past 3 days

To my fellow learners, thank you for your patience, support and energy.

I’ve loved my time away for me, doing something I love. I’ve also missed everyone so look out for my return with lots of sound!

Today is my last drop off to school for my eldest daughter. That’s 3 children done with school, 1 to go!

This daughter hasn’t been a fan of school. The rigidness, the crowd control, the broken system and antiquated ways.
There have been 2 or 3 teachers that understood and did what they could along the way. To them I am so grateful and I have expressed this to them in person.

Her path is about to bloom and unfold as she moves to further education in the most creative and exciting environment. I so want to be on the course myself - but I’ve been told that can absolutely not happen!!

The relief and joy in her already is palpable. I’m so proud of how she’s got through this last bit. I’m so proud we as a family take the time to understand each other, even when how we process and do things is different from each other.

I write all this with tears running down my face. Grief for my Dad hit a hard wave again last night, and this morning brings the end of another era. Bitter sweet and everything in-between.

I’ve never been good with change so I’m calling this a transition. Sending love to everyone who is figuring out a new normal too 🫶🏼
