Heavy, puffy legs by the end of the day?
If your ankles seem to disappear by evening, your shoes feel tighter or you are regularly left with deep sock marks, there may be more going on than simply “holding water”.
Long periods of sitting or standing, reduced movement, warmer weather, travel and hormonal changes can all influence how fluid behaves in the lower body.
Your lymphatic system works alongside your circulation to help maintain fluid balance, and movement plays an important role in supporting that process.
Manual lymphatic drainage may be helpful for some people experiencing feelings of heaviness, puffiness and fluid build up, but persistent or unexplained swelling should never just be assumed to be lymphatic.
If swelling is new, one sided, painful, red, hot, suddenly worse or associated with shortness of breath, seek medical advice.
Save this post if your legs always feel heavier by the evening.
