📣 BID Services' next CEO (Chief Executive Officer)!

We are so excited to let you know that after a highly competitive recruitment process, we have appointed Sinéad Cregan as our next CEO 🎉

Sinéad brings a strong background in business development and service transformation, a great understanding of BID Services and most importantly, a genuine passion and enthusiasm for the people and communities we serve.

She will be joining us in November, where she will work alongside our current CEO, Gail Penberthy, before the role is officially handed over. One of Sinéad’s early priorities will be to work with our colleagues, trustees, partners and service users to develop our new 2027–2032 Strategic Plan, setting out our ambitions for the next chapter of BID Services.

We really look forward to welcoming Sinéad to our team and can't wait to introduce her to everyone very soon.

We have an important update to share with you all.‌

A couple of years ago, Nottinghamshire Deaf Society (NDS) approached us to explore a possible merger to support their future sustainability. Since then, we have worked closely with them to explore options, and it has now been agreed that BID Services and NDS will merge.‌

We know you may have questions, so please feel free to leave them in the comments below. We'll be back tomorrow morning during opening hours and will do our best to reply to everyone. Thank you.

Our Chair of Board of Trustees, Matt, celebrated his 50th birthday last week! 🎉

As part of his celebrations, he held a raffle and raised an astonishing £2,710 for our organisation 🤯

A huge thank you to Parasol who donated some vintage champagne, Chapter who donated a meal for two and VIQU who donated a massage! And of course, thank you to every one of his guests who dug deep and showed incredible generosity ❤️

Some photos for the Community Launch event for Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland Sensory Services (LLR) we ran last week!

We welcomed 117 people through the doors at Attenborough Hall in Leicester, chatting to them about our services and how our team can support people who are visually impaired or deafblind living across Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland!

Before and during the transfer over to BID, the whole LLR staff have been working so hard behind the scenes to ensure that services continued seamlessly for existing clients. We are so happy to have them as part of our team ❤️

It was wonderful to also have our partners, HumanWare in attendance!

Thank you also to Leicester City Council, Leicestershire County Council and Rutland County Council for their support for not only the event, but for the service!

Want to learn more about LLR? Please visit our website https://www.bid.org.uk/locations/llr/

We have officially launched our Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland Sensory Services!

Thanks to your incredible support, these vital community services are continuing to provide life changing help to people who are sight impaired, deafblind, and have dual sensory impairments across the region.

Too many people living with a sensory impairment face barriers that leave them feeling isolated, unheard or unable to access the support they need. Our team is here to change that by providing practical support, friendly advice and opportunities for people to build confidence, make connections and access these services.

Whether it's helping someone navigate daily life, access specialist technology, meet others with shared experiences or simply know that someone is there to listen, these services are about empowering people to live independently and feel part of their community.
Every step forward is made possible because of people like YOU.

Your generosity means these services can continue to grow, reach more people and ensure that nobody has to be alone. Thank you for believing in what we do and for helping us create brighter futures for so many individuals and families.

If you'd like to support our work, you can:
- Make a one-off donation
- Become a monthly giver
- Share our posts on social media
- Sign up to our newsletter and help spread the word

Together, we are building stronger, more connected communities where individuals living with sensory impairment have the opportunity to thrive.
