Hello hello :) As I grow ever more anti Facebook and spend most of my time over on Instagram () this site still does have some uses and I’m here to let you know I’m starting online yoga classes! I have really missed teaching yoga and the community we built together so getting weekly classes live on the go via zoom. They will be £8 per class but tonight’s very first class is free! Book here and it would be lovely to have you. Camera on or off to suit you. Sending love x

She wore her yellow sun-bonnet,
She wore her greenest gown;
She turned to the south wind
And curtsied upside down.
She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbour:
‘Winter is dead.’

Mindful Monday Morning ✨

I recently talked in stories about not making any New Year’s resolutions, but tracking my habits, and creating a routine.

I am now at the stage where I have designed my life to work for me, it’s been a process and it’s taken time, and with a new baby coming, it’s about to change again! But I really do value the space I have created on my Monday mornings to have the time to plan, reflect, and make a little time for myself.

Sitting with a diary and planning the week ahead can reduce a lot of the stress that the busy working week can bring. Phones, laptops etc are great tools that I also use, but there’s something different about writing it down, being able to hold it and see it all in front of you.

I like to take this time to drink my coffee mindfully. No screens or music, just enjoying each sip. Then I open my diary and look over my to do lists from the previous week and check on anything not done. I look at my habit tracker and congratulate myself on the wins, and refocus on the ones I need to do more of this week. I plan our meals and food shop, the events and work of the week ahead, but I also plan on my down time, workouts and family time too. I also have a goals tracker that keeps me focused on my mid and long terms plans and dreams.

It doesn’t have to be Monday morning, any time in the week that works for you, but taking just one hour to sit mindfully with your thoughts and plans can really make a difference to one’s productivity and and ultimately the lives we lead.

Love my planner from where I can personalise the cover, and keep everything in one place. Mindfulness helps, so does pretty stationary ☺️

Wherever you are, be there.

It’s about acceptance. It’s about just allowing it to unfold.

Most of the time we can’t change what is happening to us in that moment. Good or bad, being in the moment allows us to release so many of the stressors and annoyances that can bring down our days, weeks and ultimately lives.

Let me just say that there are things, an ill family member, woes of the world and other things that we definitely will want to change and do not want to be passive about. However, there are a great deal of other things that we let us effect us when it’s not necessary, and learning to let them go, can have a profound impact of our overall mental state, our health and our happiness.

Sitting in traffic annoyed it’s making us late, isn’t going to get us there any earlier. Our delivery of maternity clothes is nowhere to be seen and there’s no one you can easily contact and you have nothing comfortable to wear (my current gripe!) but being annoyed by it isn’t going to make the clothes appear any sooner. The rude customer speaking to you disrespectfully, allowing their bad energy to put you in a bad mood isn’t going to change how they treated you.

Allowing these things to just be, knowing life throws us these gripes, and just sitting with them, can be transformative! The difference between being a glass half empty to glass half full kinda person.

Sitting in traffic? Enjoy your tunes! Listen to a podcast and appreciate your warm car and comfortable seats. Delivery not arrived! So be it! Instead remember how lucky you are to be able to buy new clothes and know they’ll turn up at some point, be patient! Rude customer leaving you feeling deflated and in a bad mood? Remember we don’t know what’s going on with them and their day, and letting them bother us effects us, not them.

Wherever you are, be there.
(And try to enjoy it 😉)

04.01.24.

Dear Ones,

Happy New Year from us to you.

Four days into the new year and I’m only just getting round to my new years post, and I’m ok with it :) I have a lot of ideas for helpful content and I’m looking forward to sharing what I have been creating, but as for New Year’s resolutions go, I’m not really there yet.

If you’re not vibing with a ‘fresh start’ in the middle of winter, that makes total sense with rhythms of nature. But if you’re on day 4 and going strong with the ‘new you’, then go you!

My only resolution for now is to listen to my body, try and tune inward to what it is I want this year to look like, and feel grateful for all the good in the year just passed. For me, January is more about planning, fresh starts happen in Spring, in tune with nature the new life it brings.

So for now, wishing you hot soups and snuggly evenings and wherever you are right now, be there.

Zen wishes,

Laur

O V E R W H E L M 😵‍💫

Feeling overwhelmed, especially this time of year is very common.

Having a ‘toolbox’ of things that can help you feel calmer and less stressed can be really helpful. I absolutely had to practice what I preach during the creation of this post while receiving phone calls, a toddler on my lap, and trying to concentrate on computer work!

Hopefully, some of these tips can help you too 🙏🏼 Save the post for whenever you most need it.

V I T A M I N S

It's winter, it’s cold, it’s dark early, and we are currently mostly indoors. Our health is always important but I feel like this time of year it’s so easy to make excuses and make unhealthy choices. With the colds doing the rounds, ‘everything in moderation’ in the phrase of the day!

It's old school news, I know, but what we eat has a huge impact on our health and longevity, and despite knowing what is good for us, it is easy to fall into bad habits, especially at Christmas.

But balance is key! Enjoy your advent chocolate, the Christmas party and a few glasses of mulled wine, but also throw in a few quality vitamin and mineral sources to prevent starting the new year hung over AND depleted from the month long festivities.

We are so lucky to have access to incredible foods from across the world. Oranges in December! How privileged are we!? My partner, born in communist Poland, would get an orange for Christmas when he was a kid as it was such a rarity.

So next time you're at the shops, pop a few oranges in your basket, and when you eat them, really appreciate them. Appreciate their magical tase, their ability to keep you healthy and full of vitamin C, and think of the amazing journey from seed to tree that they have been on in order to reach us 🍊

🌼 In person mini course 03.12.23 🌼

Our lives today are busy; we are overwhelmed with information, to-do lists, and expectations, often resulting in us feeling stressed, depressed and burnt out. The eightfold path of yoga has been around for thousands of years, but many have lost touch with what yoga really is and how its teachings can help us become calmer and more mindful in our day-to-day lives.

In this philosophy of yoga mini course Laur Bee will guide you through the meaning behind each of the eight limbs of yoga, as we delve deeper into this ancient philosophy and learn how to incorporate yoga’s teachings into our modern lives. You will learn how this eightfold path for enriched living can give us the ability to transform and benefit every aspect of life, not just the time we spend on our mat.

Taking place this Sunday 3rd December at 1.30pm at Northfield Leisure Centre, Birmingham, B31 2PD.
