Our aim is to support clients to reintegrate socially and explore work options. This page is client managed. Many of us who have had a brain injury, for whatever reason, find ourselves struggling to come to terms with what has happened. Often our day to day life becomes more difficult and we need support to face the future and get on with life. In step the staff at Moor Green brain injury rehabili

tation unit. Over the next few months, we move from bewilderment to confident and start to make friends with our new self. We thrive in this therapeutic community. So what exactly is Moor Green? and how do I get there? See below for the technical stuff and how to get referred. Moor Green is an out-patient unit and has provided a rehabilitation service to people with a brain injury from across the West Midlands since 1973. When someone has had a brain injury, they will frequently need help to overcome some of the problems that the injury has created. If these problems are very complex or numerous, then the person is likely to need the services of a multi-disciplinary team, rather than the help of one or two professional groups. People come to the unit on a day to day basis for up to 5 days a week over a 6 - 12 month period accessing group work, key work sessions and one to one therapy sessions with appropriate staff members: Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychologists and Adult Education Tutors. Moor Green has about 60 clients in any given period, averaging 20 clients per day. Are you interested in attending Moor Green? The referral process: this can only come through three routes ~
Brain Injury Specialist Clinic (BISC),
Birmingham Neuro Rehabilitation Team (BNRT) or
In-Patient Neuro Rehabilitation Unit (INRU)

However any health or social care professional, carers, voluntary agencies (such as, Headway or The Stroke Association) or patients themselves can refer to BISC or BNRT although additional information regarding a patient’s condition will be required from their GP as well. Referrals to INRU are only made via a consultant or GP.

Moor Green provides holistic therapies to help adjust to changes due to acquired brain injuries. We work in collaboration with clients, families, employers, and wider networks to enable adjustment and meaningful participation in life roles.

We are a team of speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists and other professionals, designing a bespoke programme delivered to clients, typically over a period of 2-6 months.

You can access the rehabilitation programme through referral from your GP or medical professional. See our website at https://www.bhamcommunity.nhs.uk/out-patient-brain-injury-service/ for more information and check out posts on Facebook by clients and clinicians.

This page is ran by Moor Green clients.
