What does “gluten-free friendly” actually mean? and what on earth is “gluten-free-ish”? 🤔

In our latest Beyond the Bowl conversation, we spoke to Knight, who has lived with coeliac disease since childhood, about the reality of eating out in 2026. 🍽️

From confusing language and building the confidence to try somewhere new, to finding somewhere that works when a family has different dietary needs.

And most importantly, what she’d like to see change. 💚

Thankyou, Knight, for sharing your experiences with us!

📚 DISCOVER THE FREEATER STORY & CONFIDENCE CORNER 📚

We’re delighted to introduce the Story & Confidence Corner, created in partnership with Freeater , as part of the Little Foodies Zone at Cardiff Gluten-Free Festival. 💚

Children can settle into the cosy story corner for a reading of Alex and the Feel Good Foods, a story created to help children feel confident and included.

There will also be colouring, search sheets and a creative competition inspired by the book, plus the opportunity for families to explore the Freeater app and discover how it helps them find more inclusive places to eat.

A calm, creative space designed to help little foodies feel understood, included and confident. ✨

My dad has officially declared his fruit cage “A Gluten Free Zone.” 🍓😂

He’s now convinced the zone deserves to go viral.

I told him not to get his hopes up...

So over to you. Do your thing and prove me wrong. 💚

Let’s surprise him. It’s his birthday soon 🎂 🤫

I have to admit, the commitment to the cause is impressive. 😂

There’s something so surreal about seeing the first boxes of my children’s book arrive. 💚📚

Even the postman couldn’t resist taking a cheeky look... and honestly, I don’t blame them. 😅

In just a few days, Alex and the Feel Good Foods will be making its way into the hands of children and families. A story inspired by my own family’s experience, created to help children understand gluten-related conditions with kindness, confidence and inclusion.

Launching 8 August… I can’t wait for you to read it. 💚

I’d love to see AI try and illustrate a book like this.

Every page has been created with care, purpose and heart to help children understand coeliac disease, gluten intolerance and why everyone deserves a place at the table.

It’s about helping children feel seen, helping friends understand, and starting conversations that can make a real difference.

Alex and the Feel Good Foods launches 8th August. I can’t wait to share it with you. 📚✨

Gluten free isn’t a trend!

26/07/2026

You know that feeling when you pack a gluten-free lunch because you’re convinced there won’t be anything you can eat...

Then you arrive and realise they’ve actually got plenty of gluten-free options. 🙌

Those moments make such a difference. Less stress, more confidence, and the chance to enjoy eating out with everyone else.

That’s exactly why I built Freeater, to help people discover places they can eat with confidence, before they even leave the house.

Have you ever taken a packed lunch somewhere and ended up not needing it? 👇
