✨ REPRESENTATION MATTERS ✨
Hi, I'm Dionne Roberts, an Independent Family Celebrant.

I create ceremonies for weddings, funerals, naming ceremonies, and life's many transitions. But I'm not just interested in the milestones themselves. I'm interested in the people, stories, cultures, identities, and experiences that make each ceremony unique.

That's why people call me The Ceremony Alchemist.
I don't begin with a script. I begin with people.

I work with couples, families, and communities from all backgrounds, cultures, faiths, spiritual traditions, and identities. Whether you're planning an interfaith wedding, a multicultural celebration, a LGBTQIA+ ceremony, a gender-affirming renaming ceremony, a coming-of-age rite, a menopause ceremony, a conscious uncoupling, or another meaningful life transition, I create ceremonies that honour the fullness of who you are.

As a Black, bisexual, disabled Buddhist celebrant, I understand that identity is rarely one-dimensional. We live at the intersection of many experiences, cultures, beliefs, abilities, genders, relationships, and ways of moving through the world. Representation matters because being truly seen matters.

I believe ceremonies should be inclusive, accessible, culturally respectful, and deeply personal. They should honour both our differences and our shared humanity.

Somatic movement informs us of all the ways we can use our awareness;

💜 Introspection - The ability to sense what's going on inside my body
💜 Intersubjective - Tunes into the experiences of others
💜 Proprioceptors - Sense where your body parts are within space so your sensory receptors locate muscles, tendons, joints, and the inner ear.

Somatic movement uses these to sense both a sense of self and our position and place is space. So, when we say ‘I am here’. We’ll mean it and we’ll know truly what it means.

When Someone Says Goodbye or Steps Into Something Life-Changing, There’s No Rescheduling It.

As a civil celebrant, I need to be there - at the right time - at the right location for a funeral or wedding and everything in between. When I say that, it’s because I understand all the different types of losses and hold ceremonies for them, such as loss of;

✨ Womb
✨ A limb
✨ Relationships
✨ Career/ Retirement
✨ Gender

Because I can honour all losses and celebrate life’s transition, enabling forward movement that embraces a person’s new life. Which no other celebrant does?

It’s paramount that I arrive before everyone else on the big day, but I don’t have the means right now, which is a shame because people would benefit so much from this awesomeness.

LIFE’S VULNERABLE MOMENTS HELD IN STRENGTH

When a loved one passes, we are at our most vulnerable, and we all need a celebrant who can bring compassion, empathy, guidance and the right leadership. Someone who brings people together and holds a safe space so we can shed our shared tears of joy or sorrow.

As a celebrant I’m able to hold such sacred spacesss - as long as I can get there - You can make sure I do.

Such people are rarely seen in the industry of OFFICIATING weddings, funerals, and naming ceremonies. But such people can create diverse ceremonies with authenticity that takes ‘BESPOKE’ to another level.

Such a celebrant is a rare find and is strongly needed in the United Kingdom. One that represents inclusion, diversity, and equality.

Hi my name is Dionne, and I will brings all these identities and experiences of mine to honour other peoples special life moments.

I want to hold spaces or people at the important moments of love, loss, identity, and transition, delivering amazing, creative ceremonies like:

🤼‍♂️ Coming of age,
😢 Menopause
🌈 Transgender renaming ceremony
😇 Conscious uncoupling

As well as the traditional ones of funerals, wakes, weddings and civil partnerships.
I should be saying ‘see my website below for details’.... But there's no point because I have a physical barrier preventing me from stepping into this work. Life has been challenging for me, which is why I'm here.

In 2018 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and arthritis in of the spine while recovering from open surgery, which makes travelling on public transport difficult. Especially when we can have 4 season in a day.

So right now, I can’t fully show up - because I don’t have a car. And in this work, that’s the difference between being booked… or being left behind.

So, I’m raising funds to change this. I’m inviting you to be a part of this CHANGE.

Not just for me, but for people who NEED my specific expertise. For the sake of those who don’t see themselves represented when why are in the need to mark these moments in their life. YOU CAN’T MISS A FUNERAL BECAUSE THE BUS DIDN’T TURN UP

Once I was on my way to shadowing another celebrant at the end of my training. On the way I the bus got stuck in traffic on a A38. Meanwhile I was bursting for the loo. I had to get off the bus to use a public toilet and then call an Uber from KFC in an industrial park, so to get to the ceremony on time.
Can you imagine if you were waiting for me to officiate that ceremony?

Which is why I desperately need your help to buy a car! - I’ve got so much talent to give - even if I say so myself. And I have l something to offer no other celebrant can, as a disabled, bisexual, woman of colour.

Hi I need to share something with you that’s a bit personal. I recently qualified as a celebrant which means I can officiate weddings, funerals, naming ceremonies…and lots more that celebrate and honour life moments and make memories to behold - I believe I would be really good at this.

I, like many genuine people with a disability, I’m trapped in a cycle of dependence. This job of celebrancy will break me free from that. If I only I can become a car owner, I could attend ceremonies that take place over multiple locations, often in rural venues which are not on a bus route.

Both my health and lack of wheels are barriers at the moment. So, my closest and dearest friends & I have created a GoFundMe campaign, which will free me from this barrier.

Because right now, this one thing — a car — will give me independence, dignity, and it will help me fulfil my wish to contribute meaningfully to the community.
