This year I made a pet portrait for my cat-lover mum of her kitty 🐾

It’s been a hot minute since I created anything just for fun for the people I love. Between burnout and constantly making art for clients, I lost the energy to create purely for joy.

Lately, with my new routine and second job, I’ve started making things just because I want to again — not because I have to.
It’s a feeling I’ve missed and it feels like coming home finally to myself ❤️

And I couldn’t be happier! 🤭💕

For a long time I thought the only way to be successful in my career was to struggle through it.

To push harder.
Work longer.
Never slow down.

Because somewhere along the way we were taught that if you take a second job, you must have failed.

But the truth is… I was burning out trying to force things that weren’t flowing anymore.

So I made a different choice.

I chose peace over pride.

Instead of stretching myself thin trying to make tattooing carry everything right now, I got a part-time job at an ice rink ⛸️

It gave me something I hadn’t had in a while — breathing room.

Breathing room to keep creating.
Breathing room to still love what I do.
Breathing room to actually live outside my job

My last post raised a really good question and I’m really curious what people think about this,

Do you think artists taking part-time jobs is failure… or just being realistic about life?
