❤️ High Blood Pressure – Is Medication the Only Option?❤️

High blood pressure is a complex condition with many possible contributing factors, including stress, emotional wellbeing, hormonal changes, sleep quality, lifestyle, diet, circulation, and underlying health conditions.

💊 Medication is often necessary and can be life-saving. However, addressing the underlying causes may also play an important role in supporting long-term health.

Recently, I worked with a client who presented with multiple concerns, including:

✔️ Depression
✔️ Menopausal symptoms
✔️ Chest discomfort
✔️ Elevated blood pressure

From a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective, her presentation involved emotional constraint, disrupted Qi flow, and an underlying Kidney Yin deficiency.

Rather than focusing solely on the blood pressure reading, I took a holistic approach and addressed the root patterns contributing to her symptoms.

🌿 Treatment included:
• Acupuncture
• Tailored Chinese herbal medicine
• Lifestyle and dietary advice

Initially, the focus was on calming the mind, regulating emotional wellbeing, and restoring the smooth flow of Qi and Blood.

As treatment progressed:

✨ Her mood improved significantly
✨ Chest discomfort resolved
✨ Sleep quality improved
✨ Night sweats and thirst reduced
✨ Energy levels increased
✨ Blood pressure readings gradually improved

As her emotional symptoms settled, the treatment strategy was adjusted to nourish Kidney Yin, anchor Yang, improve circulation, and support her body's natural balance.

💡 This case highlights an important principle of Traditional Chinese Medicine: We do not simply treat a number or a diagnosis. We treat the whole person.

By identifying the underlying patterns contributing to imbalance, we aim to restore harmony and support the body's natural healing mechanisms.

🙏 I always encourage clients to continue monitoring their blood pressure with their GP and to follow medical advice. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine should be viewed as complementary therapies that work alongside conventional healthcare.

Every individual is different, and treatment plans should always be tailored to the person's unique presentation.

*This case is shared for educational purposes. Individual results may vary. Patients should always consult their GP regarding blood pressure management and prescribed medications.*

🪡 Treating Sciatica with Acupuncture
Recently, I have been treating sciatica almost every day. I even had one day where I treated four clients consecutively, all suffering from sciatica on the same side!

You may remember one of my clients who could barely walk due to a bulging lumbar disc. After a few treatments, she was able to walk again with her frame. Cases like this remind me how effective acupuncture can be for sciatica and lower back pain.

So, how does acupuncture help?

1️⃣ Promotes the body’s natural healing response:
By placing acupuncture needles around the lumbar spine and affected areas, circulation is improved and neurological signals are stimulated locally. This helps reduce inflammation, ease nerve irritation, relieve muscle spasm, and support the body’s natural healing process. Although acupuncture does not “reverse” a bulging disc, it can significantly reduce pain and improve mobility.

2️⃣ Relaxes deep gluteal and surrounding muscles:
Sciatica is often associated with tight deep gluteal muscles, especially around the piriformis area. By using longer acupuncture needles combined with gentle electrical stimulation (electro-acupuncture), the muscles can relax more effectively. This helps reduce pressure on the sciatic nerve, improve circulation, and decrease local inflammation.

💡 My treatments are also highly comprehensive. Depending on the condition, I may combine:
• Acupuncture
• Electro-acupuncture
• FIR (Far Infrared) warming
• Gua Sha with aromatherapy oils to release muscle knots
• Cupping therapy to improve circulation and relieve tension

Many clients notice a significant reduction in pain and improvement in movement after just 2–3 treatments, especially when compared with previous therapies they have tried.

If you are struggling with sciatica, lower back pain, or nerve-related pain, acupuncture may be a natural and effective option to support your recovery.

🌸 Case Sharing – Natural Conception Support with Acupuncture & Holistic Care 🌸

I would like to share a lovely clinical journey from my practice
A 30+ YO lady initially came to me for support with her autoimmune condition. At the time, she had recently started a new biologic medication and experienced some injection-site reactions, intermittent inflammation, previous joint pain, and fatigue.

Over approximately 5 months, her condition became very stable.
She had been trying to conceive for around 1.5 years.
From a TCM perspective, her presentation mainly showed:
🌿 Mild Liver Qi stagnation with slight heat tendency
🌿 Mild luteal weakness / subtle Kidney involvement

Treatment focused on:
🪡 Regulating the menstrual cycle
🪡 Supporting ovulation and implantation window
🪡 Improving pelvic circulation
🪡 Reducing subtle stress patterns within the body
🪡 Maintaining immune balance while preparing for pregnancy

After only around 6 weeks of fertility support, she conceived naturally. 💖

This case is a lovely reminder that fertility support is not always about “fixing infertility.” Sometimes the body simply needs:
✨ stability
✨ regulation
✨ recovery
✨ reduced inflammation
✨ and the right internal environment to conceive

Every fertility journey is unique, especially when autoimmune or inflammatory conditions are involved. Integrative support can play an important role alongside conventional medical care.

Wishing her a healthy and smooth pregnancy journey ahead 🌸

🌿 Another encouraging recovery in clinic 🌿

A male client in his 40s came to my clinic with severe right foot tendinitis. His ankle was significantly swollen, and the pain was so intense that he needed crutches to walk.

I supported him with a combination of:
✨ Acupuncture
✨ Electroacupuncture (EA)
✨ Chinese herbal medicine
✨ Aromatherapy

After just 2 treatments within one week:
✔️ The ankle swelling had significantly reduced
✔️ Pain was greatly relieved
✔️ Mobility improved noticeably

Today he came for his 3rd treatment — and he no longer needed crutches and was able to walk independently 👏

The body has an amazing ability to heal when given the right support. Every case is different, but it is always rewarding to see patients regain mobility and confidence naturally.

✨ Case Sharing: Pain Relief & Better Mobility ✨

I’d love to share a recent case from my clinic that really shows how the body can still respond and improve — even at an older age 🙌

👤 88-year-old gentleman
📍 Main concern: Right gluteal pain

This had been affecting his daily life quite a lot:
😴 Sleep disturbed by pain
🚗 Couldn’t drive more than 20 minutes without discomfort
🚶‍♂️ Walking limited due to pain

We started a gentle, combined approach using acupuncture, electroacupuncture, cupping, gua sha, aromatherapy and FIR heat therapy 🌿

After just 3 treatments, the change has been very encouraging:

✔ Pain has reduced significantly
✔ Can now drive for 30 minutes comfortably 🚗
✔ Walking tolerance improved 🚶‍♂️
✔ Able to do cycling at home without pain 🚴‍♂️
✔ Sleep is much better 😴

He even said I had “worked magic” on him 😊
But in reality, it’s about helping the body restore circulation, reduce deep inflammation and allow natural healing to happen 🌱

💡 This case is a great reminder:
Age doesn’t stop the body from improving — with the right support, meaningful changes are still possible

If you or your loved ones are struggling with:
👉 Pain affecting daily life
👉 Mobility issues
👉 Sleep disturbed by discomfort

🌿 What Can I Drink During TTC & Pregnancy? (Tea + Coffee Guide) 🌿

This is one of the most common questions I get in clinic 💛
The good news is—you don’t need to avoid everything, but it’s important to keep things gentle and balanced.

☕ Coffee

✅ Trying to conceive (TTC)
• 1–2 small cups/day is generally fine

⚠️ Pregnancy
• Keep caffeine under 200 mg/day
👉 About 1 regular coffee or 2 small ones

💡 Tip:
• Avoid coffee on an empty stomach
• Reduce if you feel anxious, have poor sleep, or a history of miscarriage/IVF

🍵 Safe teas (in moderation – ~1 cup/day)

• Ginger tea – great for nausea & digestion
• Rooibos tea – caffeine-free & very safe
• Mint tea – helps bloating and mild nausea
• Red date tea – nourishing (TCM)
• Chamomile (occasionally) – calming

⚠️ Teas to limit

• Green tea – contains caffeine → limit to 1 cup/day
• Black tea – also contains caffeine
👉 Keep total caffeine (tea + coffee + chocolate) under 200 mg/day

⚠️ Use with caution

• Lemongrass tea – OK occasionally when TTC, but best to avoid in early pregnancy
• Strong herbal blends – ingredients may not always be suitable

❌ Better to avoid

• Detox or slimming teas
• Laxative teas (senna, aloe)
• Large amounts of hibiscus
• Very strong or concentrated herbal teas

🌸 Simple advice

✔️ Keep drinks simple and mild
✔️ 1 cup/day herbal tea is usually safe
✔️ Rotate teas (don’t rely on one type)
✔️ Avoid strong or excessive intake

From a TCM perspective, this is a time to nourish and stabilise the body, so we avoid anything too strong, too cold, or too stimulating 🌱

🌿 Real Fertility Support Cases from My Clinic 🌿

Today I’d like to share two encouraging cases from my practice. Every journey is different, but these stories show how important it is to support the body and the mind during fertility treatment 💛

✨ Case 1

A lady in her early 30s had been trying to conceive for 5 years and had already undergone one IVF cycle.

She came to me before her IVF with:
• PCOS
• Painful periods
• Dark blood with clots and brown spotting

From a TCM perspective, this is a classic pattern of blood stagnation. This is not only related to cold or lack of movement—it is often strongly linked to stress, which causes Qi stagnation.

In TCM, Qi (energy) is what moves blood around the body. When Qi is stuck, circulation is affected—and this can impact fertility.

She had 3 acupuncture sessions before her first IVF, but unfortunately it was not successful.

However, she didn’t give up 💛

She returned before her second cycle, this time feeling very overwhelmed after the previous failure. As we know, stress can significantly affect fertility outcomes.

Our focus shifted to:
• Calming the Shen (mind)
• Regulating Qi flow
• Improving circulation

After a course of treatments, she went through IVF again… and this time, she had a positive result ✨

✨ Case 2

A 37-year-old lady had her first child through IVF 8 years ago. Since then, she had experienced 4 unsuccessful IVF cycles.

Her menstrual cycle appeared relatively normal, but with age and repeated IVF attempts, her body showed signs of Kidney Yin deficiency.

In TCM, Yin represents the nourishing, cooling, and fluid aspect of the body, which is essential for:
• Uterine lining
• Egg quality
• Successful implantation

She came to me with a very tight timeline—just 2 weeks before her IVF cycle.

We focused on:
• Nourishing Kidney Yin
• Supporting the body overall
• Calming the mind and reducing stress

She had 4 sessions before IVF…

And later shared the wonderful news that she was 7 weeks pregnant 💛

This truly made my day.

She has since returned for support with pregnancy-related nausea, which I’ll share more about in my next post 🌿

💡 Final thoughts
Fertility is not just about one factor. It involves:
• Physical health
• Hormonal balance
• Emotional wellbeing

Acupuncture and TCM aim to support the body holistically, especially during demanding treatments like IVF.

If you are on your fertility journey and would like support, feel free to reach out 💛

✨ Fertility Acupuncture – Supporting Your Body Naturally ✨

More and more women are choosing acupuncture to support their fertility journey—whether trying naturally or alongside IVF/IUI.

🌿 How can acupuncture help?

Acupuncture works by gently regulating the body and improving internal balance. It may help:

✔️ Balance hormones
✔️ Regulate menstrual cycle
✔️ Improve blood flow to the uterus and ovaries
✔️ Support egg quality and ovulation
✔️ Reduce stress and improve sleep

📍 Common acupuncture points used

Some key points we often use include:

• CV4 – supports the uterus and reproductive energy
• SP6 – nourishes blood and regulates hormones
• LV3 – helps reduce stress and improve Qi flow
• PC6 – calms the mind and reduces anxiety
• Yin Tang – promotes relaxation and better sleep
• Zigong – supports uterine function and circulation

⏳ When to start?

Ideally, acupuncture starts 3 months before trying to conceive or IVF, to prepare the body.

However, it can still be very helpful at any stage—even during treatment cycles.

💆‍♀️ Treatments are gentle, relaxing, and tailored to your individual pattern in TCM.

If you’re planning for pregnancy or currently trying, I’d be happy to support you 🌸
📩 Feel free to message me or book an initial consultation to discuss your plan.

Do you remember this lady who was struggling with a bulging disc and couldn’t walk for months?

With consistent treatment—and now maintaining sessions every two weeks—she’s made incredible progress. She’s able to walk along the corridor with a frame, and even more exciting… she’s planning to visit her family in Africa this May!

I’m so happy to see her recovery and determination 💛

From Chair-Bound to Walking Again – A Lumbar Disc Recovery Journey with Acupuncture 👣🌿✨

Today I would like to share a meaningful and encouraging case from my clinic.

A 57-year-old lady came to me after being unable to walk since April last year due to severe lumbar spine issues. Imaging showed multiple disc bulges at L2/3, L3/4, L4/5 and L5/S1, with moderate spinal canal stenosis.

She experienced constant lower back and hip pain, significant weakness, and became completely chair-bound 🏠. Daily activities were extremely difficult, and her quality of life was greatly affected.

Despite hospital medication 💊 and ongoing physiotherapy, her mobility did not improve. She also had arthritis in both knees and ankles, which further complicated her recovery. Understandably, she felt frustrated, discouraged, and exhausted 😔.

She then decided to try acupuncture.

Because travelling was impossible for her, I offered home visits 🚗. Although it required nearly two hours of travel each way, I accepted the case because I genuinely wanted to help and felt she deserved another chance to regain her independence.

I am very grateful for the trust she and her family placed in me 💛🙏

Treatment approach 🌿

Over the first three sessions, treatment focused on:

• reducing pain and inflammation
• activating circulation of Qi and Blood
• releasing muscular and channel stagnation
• warming and strengthening Kidney Yang (to support spine and lower limbs)
• improving joint mobility in knees and ankles
• relaxing tight muscles and nerves

Therapies included:
• acupuncture
• moxibustion 🔥
• cupping
• gua sha
• local and distal point combinations

The treatments were sometimes uncomfortable, but she remained incredibly determined and committed 💪

Outcome so far 🌟

At her 4th session today, we received wonderful news.

She was able to stand and walk a few steps independently with her walking frame 👣✨

She also reported:
• less back, hip, and knee pain
• improved strength
• better general energy
• reduced night sweating
• more confidence moving around

After nearly a year of being home-bound, this progress is significant — both physically and emotionally 🥹

For her and her family, this was the first real improvement they had seen in months ❤️
For me, it was incredibly rewarding to witness 🌿

Why this matters

Chronic musculoskeletal conditions often involve more than just structural damage.

From a TCM perspective, long-term pain is related to:
• Qi and Blood stagnation
• Cold-Damp obstruction
• underlying Kidney weakness

By improving circulation, reducing stagnation, and strengthening the body’s foundation, we can gradually restore movement and function.

Recovery takes time ⏳ — but small steps truly matter.

Sometimes, just a few steps forward can change everything 🌱

I’m grateful to be part of her healing journey and look forward to supporting her continued progress 💛

Hi everyone! Hope you’re all enjoying the Easter holiday 🌸

I’ve just come back from a short trip to Gran Canaria — it was absolutely amazing ☀️ And now I’m back in the clinic today and tomorrow with a fully booked schedule 😆 Work hard, play hard 💪🏻

I’m really happy to see so many of my clients improving with herbal medicine and acupuncture. Recently, I’ve been treating both adults and children with skin conditions, including eczema, and have seen very encouraging results.

If you or your child are struggling with eczema or other skin concerns, feel free to get in touch or book an initial consultation — I’d be happy to help you find the most suitable treatment.

Wishing you all a lovely and restful holiday 💖
