An insight into my own training
🔥12-Hour Simulation Run 🔥

Just 6 days to go until my final 12-hour simulation run ahead of my attempt to run 150 miles in 24 hours on July 25th.

The plan is simple: simulate the first 12 hours of race day as closely as possible. Pace will (hopefully!) sit somewhere between 9:00-9:30 per mile, with a target of around 77 miles by the end of the day.

I'll be fuelling exactly as I intend to on race day and using the run to test every aspect of the plan. While the goal is 24 hours, 12 hours is still a very long day on the feet. There will be tough moments, but that's the whole point. Those moments will help highlight what still needs tweaked before July 25th.

A lot of people ask why I make my training public. The answer is simple. I want people to see the reality of chasing a big goal. Not just the finish line, but the preparation, setbacks, doubts, long days and lessons learned along the way. By sharing the process, I keep myself accountable, and if it inspires even one person to step outside their comfort zone and chase something that matters to them, then it's worth it.

The support during my previous long runs in the village—the 100-miler and the 6-hour event—was incredible. Seeing familiar faces and having people stop by for a lap, a chat, or a bit of encouragement made a huge difference.

Every lap gets me one step closer to the start line.

Hi, I’m Marc, the person behind MJB Run Coaching & Sports Massage Therapy and Dargavel Endurance Fuelling.

What started as a passion for running has grown into a business with one passionate goal: helping runners perform better, recover better, and enjoy the sport for longer.

Through run coaching, sports massage, and run analysis, I help runners of all abilities achieve their goals. Whether that’s completing a first 5K, chasing a marathon PB, or taking on ultra-distance challenges.

HELP!!!!! “I think I’m injured...”

It’s one of the most common messages I receive from runners starting out or those in a training block.

Sometimes it’s a genuine injury that needs attention.

But often, it’s simply the body’s response to increased training load.

Aches, soreness, tightness, heavy legs and the occasional ni**le can all be part of the adaptation process when you’re asking your body to run further, faster, or more frequently than before.

The challenge isn’t avoiding every ache—it’s understanding the difference between normal training stress and something that requires intervention.

Not every ni**le is an injury.

Sometimes it’s simply evidence that you’re putting in the work.

Train smart. Manage your load. Recover well. And don’t panic at the first sign of discomfort.

This week I’ve had it brought to my attention just how important reviews are for a small business and how much they help build an image and trust with people.

So I’ve started putting a bit more focus on the Google page and I’ll probably start encouraging people a wee bit more to leave reviews after using my services or the shop.

And honestly, I know nobody HAS to leave a review at all. That’s completely fine.

But I do think people sometimes forget that for small businesses, a few words about your experience can genuinely make a difference. It helps people decide whether to trust you, use your services or even walk through the door for the first time.

It’s strange really — people don’t mind tagging huge brands, influencers or celebrities who already have millions following them and really don’t notice you… but sharing, reviewing or promoting a small local business who will notice every like/share/review, can feel “cringey” to some people.

My business is exactly where I need it to be in my life right now and I’m genuinely grateful to everyone who supports it in any way, whether that’s vocally or quietly behind the scenes.

Of course I want it to grow. Any business owner does. But growth only comes from me having to learn the marketing side better, improve the business properly and people sharing their genuine experiences of my business with others.

So to anyone who’s supported, shared, reviewed, recommended or even simply shown up — thank you 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
