🧡 October is ADHD Awareness Month 🧡
This one means a little more to me because both me and my daughter have ADHD. 🦋
As an adult, a mum and a business owner, I’m still learning every single day how to work with my ADHD rather than constantly fighting against it.
My brain is usually running at 100mph. 😂 I can have 500 ideas at once, hyperfocus for hours, forget why I walked into a room, start six jobs before finishing the first one and somehow still manage to pull it all together. 😂🙈
And then I look at my little girl, whose brain works a little differently too. ❤️
One of the biggest things I want to teach her is that ADHD isn’t something she needs to be ashamed of. Yes, there will be things she finds harder, and I understand those struggles because I live them too. But I also get to understand her in a way that I think is really special.
I get to help her find the little tricks that help me. I get to advocate for her when she needs it. And most importantly, I get to show her that having ADHD doesn’t put a limit on what she can achieve. 🥹
I’m running and growing Thrifted by Jessica Jade, juggling motherhood, lives, stock, orders, content, customers and about 7,492 thoughts at any given moment. 😂🛍️ And while ADHD can make that incredibly challenging sometimes, the creativity, determination, big ideas and passion that come with my brain are also a huge part of why I love what I do.
I hope my daughter grows up watching me and realises she doesn’t have to fit into somebody else’s version of “normal” to be successful or proud of herself.
We might do things a little differently in our house… but different doesn’t mean less. 🧡
So here’s to our beautifully busy brains, to learning together, and to raising a little girl who knows there is absolutely nothing wrong with being exactly who she is. 🦋🧡
More awareness. More understanding. More kindness. 🧡
