Back to school tomorrow 📚

To all of our children, young people and families heading back to school tomorrow, we’re thinking of you.

Whether it’s a brand new school, a new classroom, new teachers, or simply getting back through those doors after the summer, we know tomorrow can bring a lot of emotions.

Excitement, nerves, worry, overwhelm… sometimes all at once.

I’m feeling it myself as a mum this morning, and I know I won’t be the only one. 🥹

So from all of us at Diverse Minds Community, good luck to every single one of you.

Take tomorrow one step at a time. However the first day goes, it’s just the first day.

Sending so much love and all the good vibes for a gentle start to the new school year. 💜💙🩵💚

Tomorrow we open our virtual doors for the first time for our OPEN DAY. Thank you all so much for the support and pushing me in this direction to follow my dreams. It may not go to plan and I may be forced to return to traditional teaching in the future but with the uncertainty of the SEND reforms and lack of support for children with ADHD I have to do this NOW! I believe that these children deserve the right to understand their brains and when they know, understand the why and unlock tools and strategies it will have a positive outcome on their lives. Proud of this programme and I know my younger self would have massively benefited from this.

💙 ManxLife: Behind the Island — Episode 1

I’m so excited to share the first in our new Behind the Island series — where we sit down with the people behind the businesses, organisations, charities and community projects that make our Island so special.

It was an honour to sit down with Nic Whitlam from Diverse Minds Community after supporting the incredible Miles That Matter team.

We wanted to hear more about the work Diverse Minds does for neurodivergent children, young people and their families — and the support available here on the Island.

And keep watching to hear about the amazing plans for the money raised through Miles That Matter, and how it will be used right here on the Island to support and celebrate our children. 💙

Real people. Real stories. Real Island life. 🇮🇲

✨ FRIDAY THOUGHT ✨

With the return to school just around the corner, we know that for many families, tensions are rising, apprehension is growing and anxiety is starting to take over.

New classrooms, new teachers, new routines, new expectations, or simply returning after the summer break can feel like a lot.

Remember, you don’t have to have all the answers.

Take it one day at a time. Be kind to yourselves and to your children. And if things are feeling overwhelming, reach out. We’re here.

You’ve got this 💜💙🩵💚

💜 Friday Thought… on a Monday 😂

I bloody missed Friday Thought again!

Things are a little hectic at DMC at the moment, but in the BEST possible way. The planning and organising going into our next event is pretty all-consuming, and I am SO excited to share some news with you all soon 👀

I hope everyone’s summer holidays are flowing as smoothly as they possibly can. With back to school fast approaching, I know those anxieties will already be starting to creep in for some families.

Some children will be excited to get back. Some will be desperate for routine. Some will be worried, overwhelmed or really struggling with the thought of it. And some parents will be feeling all of those things too! There’s no right or wrong way to feel about September.

Remember, you don’t have to figure everything out by yourself. Our DMC parent WhatsApp group is there to ask questions, share tips and tricks, have a little rant when you need one, celebrate the wins and chat with other parents who just get it.

If you’d like to be added, just send us your contact number privately.

And keep your eyes peeled… because there are some really exciting things happening at DMC. ✨
