Thank You Thursday
This week, we’re saying a very special thank you to Anthony Gillings. Anthony marked his 100th birthday in the most incredible way – by taking on a 2-mile walk to raise funds for 4Sight Vision Support. He raised an amazing £3,698.25!

Anthony, your kindness, determination and generosity are truly inspiring. To celebrate such a remarkable milestone by supporting others living with sight loss means so much to us all.

We’d also like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported Anthony – whether by donating, sharing his story, or cheering him on. Your support will make a real difference to the people and families we help every day.

Again, Happy 100th birthday, Anthony – and thank you for being such a wonderful part of our community.

Navigation with Tiera

Navigating unfamiliar places can be challenging, and that’s where the new Tiera navigation app can help. Tiera is the first navigation app created with the blind and low‑vision community, using artificial intelligence to turn your surroundings into clear, accessible information. While apps like Google Maps are helpful, they can have limitations for people with sight loss.

With Tiera, you simply use voice commands to say where you want to go. The app then uses your phone’s camera to pinpoint your exact location and guide you to face the right direction. If you drift off course, the camera checks your position again and redirects you.

Beyond navigation, Tiera can also enrich your journey by alerting you to landmarks and points of interest around you - such as blue plaques, litter bins, bus stops, road crossings and more.

Future plans include additional features like tele‑assistance, allowing users to connect with a sighted assistant when needed.

While Tiera is still in development, we’ll be working closely with the team to provide feedback, and we’ll share updates on its progress in the coming months.

For more information on accessing any forms of technology or assistive apps, please contact us.

Did you know that dance can make a difference?

A HUGE thank you to the amazing members of Bury and Pulborough Dance Club! At their annual dinner dance, they showed their incredible support by hosting a raffle that raised an impressive £114 for us!

We couldn't be more grateful for this community's generosity and spirit. Your support helps us to support people in West Sussex who are blind or partially sighted to remain active members of their community.
