Navigation with Tiera
Navigating unfamiliar places can be challenging, and that’s where the new Tiera navigation app can help. Tiera is the first navigation app created with the blind and low‑vision community, using artificial intelligence to turn your surroundings into clear, accessible information. While apps like Google Maps are helpful, they can have limitations for people with sight loss.
With Tiera, you simply use voice commands to say where you want to go. The app then uses your phone’s camera to pinpoint your exact location and guide you to face the right direction. If you drift off course, the camera checks your position again and redirects you.
Beyond navigation, Tiera can also enrich your journey by alerting you to landmarks and points of interest around you - such as blue plaques, litter bins, bus stops, road crossings and more.
Future plans include additional features like tele‑assistance, allowing users to connect with a sighted assistant when needed.
While Tiera is still in development, we’ll be working closely with the team to provide feedback, and we’ll share updates on its progress in the coming months.
