Meet Millie, one of the stop smoking advisors helping people across Sunderland become smokefree

She has worked at Sunderland Specialist Stop Smoking Service for a couple of months now, and already she's seen the huge benefits of quitting smoking.

Millieโ€™s advice is simple:

โญ Don't be afraid to ask for help. You donโ€™t have to quit smoking alone and having the right support can make all the difference.

โญ Take one day at a time. Try not to put too much pressure on yourself and focus on each day as it comes.

โญ Be kind to yourself. Quitting can be challenging so donโ€™t feel embarrassed if you find it tough.

It was a pleasure to welcome Alison Hume MP for Scarborough and Whitby, to our BeU North Yorkshire service last week.

During the visit, we walked Alison through our young peopleโ€™s autism assessment pathway, discussing how our dedicated team supports children, young people and their families across Scarborough, Ryedale and Whitby.

The visit was also a valuable opportunity to share insights from our broader neurodiversity work, including our adult autism service in Norfolk - where our navigation team helps clients build strategies that make life more manageable, long before a diagnosis. Across both regions, our focus remains on clear, neuro-affirming support and providing people with the help they deserve.

Thank you to Alison Hume MP for spending time with us, and to the team members who led the visit: Lucy Leppington-Green, Alison Husler, Nick Warnett and Beth Amos.
