Thank you to Lorraine, one of our incredible Facebook moderators! 💙

For nearly 14 years, Lorraine has been a reassuring voice in our community, helping our online support group grow from just 200 members to over 5,000. After her son Jonathan’s diagnosis, she experienced first-hand how essential accurate information and safe spaces are. Since then, she has dedicated her time to ensuring no one has to face PSC alone.

Staying positive is always easier said than done. One of our long-time supporters shared this quote while speaking about her journey at one of our in-person Information Days. It brings her a great deal of comfort, so we're passing it along today in the hope it does the exact same for you.

(And remember, if you ever need a little extra backing, our information and support services are always right here!)

Good luck to Elliot, who is taking part in the Great Manchester Run this Sunday! 🏃‍♂️💨

Elliot is running alongside his dad, Tony, and his brother-in-law, Neil, to raise vital funds for PSC Support. It’s a cause incredibly close to their hearts, as Elliot’s partner, Kelly, lives with PSC.

Every pound they raise helps us fund life-changing research and provide crucial support to people affected by PSC.

We are all cheering you on, team! Thank you for raising awareness and making a difference together!

"I was at the back of the queue when it came to handing out good health, but it’s made me appreciate my life more."

Growing up, Carol followed her dreams all the way to Barcelona, refusing to let early diagnoses of Type 1 diabetes and Ulcerative Colitis slow her down. But at 28, a new diagnosis shifted her world: primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC).

For years, Carol admits she lived in complete denial. She ignored the reality of PSC, married the love of her life, and started a family. It wasn't until her son was born that the reality of this rare liver disease truly hit her. "My world came crashing down - I didn’t want to die. I needed to be here for my son."

While Carol still navigates the physical and mental hurdles of a chronic illness, she is thriving, counting her blessings, and living life to the absolute fullest.

Carol’s fundraising journey began with raising almost £10,000 (£9,631 to be precise!) when she ran the Manchester Marathon in 2022, proving that crazy dreams (like running a marathon) are possible even with PSC. “I am so proud that I managed to raise that amount on my own.” She also became the incredible driving force behind our 20K Your Way Challenge, mobilising nearly 100 community members to raise over £25,000 for PSC Support!

"Stay as positive as you can, enjoy your good days to the maximum, but know when to listen to your body and slow down when you need to. Life is for living."

Update from EASL! 🇪🇸✈️ Martine and Mark have officially landed and set up the PSC Support stall.

They're in Barcelona this week at Europe’s largest event dedicated to liver health, bringing together doctors, scientists, allied health professionals, patients, and industry partners to share knowledge, highlight breakthroughs, and build meaningful connections. They're making sure the PSC patient voice is loud, clear, and right at the centre of the global liver community.

Over the next few days, Martine and Mark will be:

- Collaborating with international advocacy groups to strengthen our collective voice.
- Meeting face-to-face with clinicians to make sure more medical professionals understand the reality of living with PSC.
- Gathering the latest clinical data and research insights to bring directly back to you.

The congress is officially underway, so keep your eyes on our feed for live updates, key takeaways, and announcements.
