Sometimes the best results come from starting with laser!

Top: Previous brows done elsewhere.
The pigment aged very cool and grey, the brow became quite blocky, and the strokes no longer looked soft.

Middle: After laser removal.
This step is so important in cases like this because removing some of the old saturated pigment creates space in the skin for fresh, crisp hairstrokes to be implanted properly again. Without this step, any new pigment added to the skin would simply disappear within the old.

Bottom: Healed hyper realism brows 🤍
Using a pigment better suited to her skin type and undertone, I created soft, natural strokes that healed and blended beautifully with her own brow hair.

A lot of people don’t realise that:
• Permanent makeup can shift colour over time if the wrong pigment is used
• Old pigment affects how new pigment heals
• Skin tone + undertone play a HUGE role in choosing the correct pigment
• Sometimes removal is the safest way to achieve a natural result again

Uneven brows are so much more common than you think 🤍

This lovely client came to me with very thin brows, one more arched, the other flatter, and like so many women, she struggled every single day trying to make them look even.
Makeup wasn’t optional for her… it was a must before leaving the house.

And with her wedding just 4 months away, she wanted to finally feel confident, natural, and effortless 🤍

Here’s the truth (and something I always educate my clients on):

Brows are sisters… not twins.

There are a few reasons why brows naturally grow or end up uneven:
• Your bone structure isn’t perfectly symmetrical
• Muscles in your face move differently on each side (especially when you talk, smile, or raise your brows)
• Hair growth patterns can vary from one side to the other
• Past overplucking can affect regrowth

This means achieving perfect symmetry is actually impossible, chasing it often leads to overfilled, heavy brows that don’t look quite right.

My approach?
Creating balance, not perfection 🤍

By working with her natural features (not against them), I was able to:
• Add soft structure to the flatter brow
• Slightly soften the higher arch for harmony
• Build fullness while keeping everything natural and airy

The result? Brows that look even, but still completely her.

This client has had 5 laser sessions so far, and her journey hasn’t been the easiest, her previous brows were very old and had been worked on multiple times, which makes the removal process more complex.

This is something I always like to be transparent about…

Every set of brows is different, but here’s what the laser removal journey typically looks like:

• We gradually break down the old pigment using targeted laser energy
• The body then naturally flushes this pigment away over time
• Each session lifts more of the colour (especially stubborn tones like red/pink)
• Treatments are spaced out to allow proper healing and fading
• Multiple sessions are often needed for the best result

In cases like this, where there’s a lot of old or layered pigment, patience really is key 🤍

But here’s the important part…

⚡️ Removing old pigment properly gives us a clean canvas
⚡️ It allows me to create the soft, natural brows you actually want
⚡️ And it prevents the colour from turning ashy, muddy or uneven

Out with the old ❌ In with the new 🫶🏽

Pigment present in the skin is never ideal when trying to achieve natural brows, especially when it’s ashy or solid. In this picture you can see this client had gray pigment in her skin from a previous microblading procedure, the shape was uneven with some strokes tattooed a little deeper than what the should.

We embarked on her laser removal journey back in August 25 and with lots of patience we were able to remove enough pigment to allow me to work over them after 3 sessions.

It’s really important to note that everyone’s laser journey can look very different from each other, removal results depends on how old the pigment is, how deep it was tattooed, which technique was used and what type of pigment it is, it can take anything from 1 to countless sessions!

I was so pleased to be able to work on these, creating a beautiful hyperrealism brow that will look natural as it heals and will fade beautifully over time instead of changing shades and just blurring.

The first photo shows healed results, this is the true, soft, natural finish once everything has settled beautifully into the skin 🤍

The second photo is straight after the treatment, and yes, it can look a little intense at first. The colour appears much darker, and there can be some swelling which might make the lips look slightly uneven. And what swelling we got on this one! 😅

This is completely normal!

In the first few days the colour softens by up to 50%, and as the lips heal, everything evens out to reveal that fresh, natural tint you see in the healed results.
