Continuing on the water melon theme.
Watermelons can be large and what to do with it all.
Just cut it up and put in freezer. You can add lollipop sticks to it but don’t let that stop you if you have none.
After a few minutes out of freezer a fork will do just as well or even your hands!! No need to be posh.
Just savour this hydrating watermelon fruit in the hot weather.

Also what fruit do you like? Freeze it. Add it frozen to icecream. Restaurants do that. Simple but soooo.. delicious.

The weather is hot. This is my salad today. Take out feta and replace with your choice of other cheese or even tuna or salmon. Get some protein in it. Enjoy.

🌞 TOP 2 HYDRATING FOODS FOR HOT WEATHER 🍉🍅

When the temperature rises, staying hydrated isn’t just about drinking more water – it’s also about eating foods packed with water.

🥇 1. Watermelon – 92% Water
Sweet, refreshing and naturally hydrating, watermelon is rich in vitamins A and C, antioxidants, and the amino acid citrulline, which may help support healthy circulation. It’s the perfect summer snack.

🥈 2. Tomatoes – 95% Water
Tomatoes are one of the most hydrating foods you can eat. They’re also packed with vitamin C, potassium and the antioxidant lycopene, which helps protect your cells from damage caused by the sun and everyday stress.

💙 Try this simple summer salad:

🥣 Salad Ingredients
🍉 Watermelon (cubed)
🍅 Tomatoes (quartered)
🧀 Crumbled feta
🌿 Fresh basil
✨ Sprinkle with sesame seeds

🥄 The Dressing
• 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
• Juice of ½ a lime or lemon
• Finely grated zest of the lime or lemon
• 1 teaspoon honey

Whisk the dressing together, then gently mix it through the salad by hand. Chill before serving to allow the flavours to develop.

☀️ Light, refreshing, delicious… and your body will thank you!

Small healthy choices made consistently can make a big difference to how you feel this summer.

On a serious note we thought it might be useful to give you a few tips on how to cope with the current heat. Also there is a difference between heat stroke and heat exhaustion. In this weather heat exhaustion can affect any of us particularly the younger children and the elderly. So if you have a neighbour next door who is elderly do check on them to see how they are coping.

🔥🔥 TIPS TO COPE WITH THE HEAT
*if you're inside on a very hot day, close curtains, and close windows if it's hotter outside than in your home, and turn off electrical equipment and lights that get hot. Opening the windows on days of extreme heat will make your home worse.
*Use a fan, but not with windows open
*Drink more cold drinks, especially if you're active or exercising
*Wear light-coloured, loose clothing – Avoid Black and dark clothes as they retain the heat in the body
*Avoid the sun between 11am and 3pm
*Avoid drinking too much alcohol
*Avoid extreme exercise

🔥🔥
The purpose is to keep your body cool and avoid dehydration.
Drinking fluids is a must. Even if you don’t feel like it you must keep hydrated as the body will be losing fluid in this heat.
Lets look firstly at Heat Exhaustion because this can lead to heat stroke if the signs are not recognised.
The symptoms of Heat Exhaustion include:
-tiredness
-dizziness
-headache
-feeling sick (nausea) or being sick (vomiting)
-excessive sweating and skin becoming pale and clammy
-cramps in the arms, legs and stomach
-a high temperature
-being very thirsty
-feeling irritable

🔥🔥 If you or anyone has these symptoms (above) you need to cool them down. Here are some things you can do to cool someone down
Follow these 5 steps:
1. Move them to a cool or cooler place.
2. Make sure windows and curtains are closed if they are in a sunny room.
3. Remove all unnecessary clothing , especially socks or tights.
4. Give them plenty of water to drink (if dehydrated go to chemist and get some oral rehydration powder sachets to mix with water, which will help replace salt lost through sweating.
5. Cool their skin – spray or sponge them with cool water and fan them. Get something cold out of the freezer that they don’t mind wasting and wrap in a tea towel and put under the armpits or neck or both. If they have a cold pack all the better. If none of these and they have ice cubes, put them into a tea towel and put on the neck and/or under armpits to cool them down.
Stay with them until they're better.

🔥🔥They should start to cool down and feel better within 30 minutes.
⚠️⚠️If still being unwell after 30 minutes of resting in a cool place, being cooled and drinking fluids call 111 or 999 if they have the following symptoms
A very high temperature
A fast heartbeat
Fast breathing or shortness of breath
Confusion and lack of coordination
A seizure or fit
Loss of consciousness
⚠️Do not drive yourself to A&E.

Hopefully this will help you in how to deal with this extreme heat as it seems we may get more days of this.
