I took a week off with my family over half term and if I'm honest, it felt uncomfortable at first.
When you're growing a business there's a constant pull to stay available, to respond, to keep things moving. It took me a few days to actually let go of that.
I'm not a sit still kind of person when it comes to switching off, so we went on an active camping trip.
We saw some incredible places, some genuinely stunning views, and physically exhausted ourselves with some big hikes. The kids were not too keen.
But I've come back this week feeling physically tired and mentally rested, and that combination has given me so much more capacity, for my work, my clients and my family.
If we don't give ourselves time away from our day to day environment and the expectations that come with it, we're quietly working ourselves towards burnout.
Rest isn't a reward for finishing everything. It's part of how we keep going 💚
