🌿✨ Spotlight on Our Inspiring Interns at Brownsea Island ✨🌿

At The SAMEE Charity, we’re proud to celebrate the incredible achievements of our young people — and this week, we’re shining a light on two of our talented interns who have started the first of a week week placement. They will be joined next week by another of our year 2 interns, LH (gardening).

📸 EM – Budding Nature Photographer
EM has been capturing the island’s natural beauty through a fresh and creative lens. From peaceful woodland scenes to vibrant wildlife moments, his passion for photography has truly blossomed. Not only has EM developed valuable skills in observation and composition, but he has also grown in confidence, showcasing a unique perspective on the natural world that inspires us all.

🛠️🖤 LC – Steampunk Jeweller & Dark Arts Artist
LC has brought imagination to life through a series of engaging creative workshops with children on the island. He has also impressed the staff so much that they want to promote his own business for all visitors to see!

Opportunities like this don’t just build skills — they build confidence, independence, and a sense of purpose. Both EM and LC have embraced their placements with dedication, creativity, and resilience, demonstrating exactly what SAMEE is all about.

🚆 SAMEE Interns Take on “Try the Train” Day! 🌟

This week, our SAMEE interns enjoyed a fantastic day out with South Western Railway as part of the “Try the Train” experience.

Starting in Bournemouth, the group travelled by train to Brockenhurst, building confidence with independent travel, learning rail safety, and enjoying the journey together.

After exploring Brockenhurst, the interns stopped for lunch and some well-earned downtime before heading back to Bournemouth by train.

The day was full of:
✅ Building independence
✅ Developing travel confidence
✅ Team bonding and social skills
✅ Trying new experiences

A huge thank you to the team at South Western Railway for supporting such a positive and enjoyable experience for our interns and staff! 🙌

🌟 Inspiring Innovation at The SAMEE Charity 🌟

We were delighted to welcome Mark Painter to The SAMEE Charity this week, where he spent time with our fantastic interns sharing his journey and expertise.

Mark gave an engaging insight into what it really takes to bring a product to market — from idea to reality — offering invaluable advice and real-world experience.

A highlight of the visit was Mark introducing his new game, giving our interns the unique opportunity to learn, play, and provide feedback. It was a brilliant hands-on experience that sparked creativity, critical thinking, and plenty of enthusiasm! 💡

Thank you, Mark, for inspiring our interns and giving them such a memorable and practical learning experience.

✅Chainsaw License - Completed it

A massive congratulations to our second year intern LH on the successful completion of your chainsaw license! 🤩

LH spent last week with mentor Dan doing intensive training from the incredible Terry Banyard. He then did his assessment on Monday and passed with flying colours! - https://www.facebook.com/p/T-Banyard-training-100063663474388/

Dan - "LH did all the hard work, well most of it. I moved more branches than a man of my age should do in a week! I am so pleased for LH though, he completely deserves it, having put so much effort in last week" 👏✨
