Nutrigenomic Medicine

Nutrigenomic Medicine At the Centre for Nutrigenomic Medicine we provide expert care and advice, tailored to each individual's genes and biochemistry.

We provide expert information, care and advice tailored to each individual's genes and biochemistry - Find relief from symptoms and your best possible quality of life. We keep to the forefront of scientific and medical research, to learn from new discoveries as they're made, and to understand how they relate to symptoms and conditions. We develop individualised drug-free plans to help compensate f

or health challenges. For some people, tailoring diet and lifestyle to balance biochemistry may be all that is needed to bring good health. More complex solutions are needed for serious conditions involving body and brain. Whatever your age or stage or the health challenge you're facing, we'd be so pleased to help you realise your best possible quality of life. We know - It's not just any body, it's your body!

Three things you need to know about developmental delays and regressions:
1. Your child is exceptional - Each child’s needs and path to maturity is unique and complex. The child you see now is still a work in progress.
2. Heal the body, heal the brain - It's not all psychological. The problems we see are reflections of a body that is unable to support the incredible choreography of development.
3. Every day is an opportunity for change - Children can, and do, heal and grow to reach their full potential. It's our privilege to help them do just that!

Children, from conception, are equipped with incredible, highly conserved, developmental processes that will automatically progress unless something interrupts the normal chain of events.

Observing healthy children, we see that for them, development is as simple as breathing. They grow, learn, experience and understand, even in the most difficult of environments. It’s the ‘norm’.

But the ‘norm’ is quickly being replaced, for many children, with a stunting or reversal of development that leads to a lifetime of challenges – physical, emotional and social - that are very difficult to undo. Why is this happening?

We have many strands of evidence from genetics, biochemistry, psychology, neurology and a world of research interest, but there's an urgent need to translate that into action, so that our children truly thrive and can look forward to a bright future.

This incredible programme has been nearly four years in the making. It brings together my experience, hopes, plans, and strategies to help families move their children to the optimal developmental pathway, to reach their full potential.

OUR THRIVECHILD IS HERE!

After a long gestation, I'm thrilled to announce our new arrival...

This incredible programme has been nearly four years in the making. It brings together experience, hopes, plans, and strategies to help families move their children to the optimal developmental pathway, to reach their full potential.

You and I both recognise that your child's future is worth every effort. But effort alone is not enough. We need to do the right things, for the right child, at the right time. This programme is designed to help you do just that.

It can be incredibly painful and frustrating to live each day with a child whose health and development is damaged. But immense gratitude and peace results when a child is able to live his or her best life and become the happy, healthy, incredible individual s/he was destined to be.

This is your personal invitation to join!

ANOTHER PANDEMIC: AUTISM

This is a frustrating time, and few people remain untouched by the negative consequences of an unforeseen pandemic. Illness, isolation, unemployment - untimely passings. Yet we are also increasingly aware of the resilience and commitment displayed by health care workers and others around the world who daily provide care in unprecedented and risky circumstances.

While all eyes are on the crisis caused by SARS-CoV-2, it’s easy to understand that other topics fade from focus. But April is Autism Awareness month and more than ever, it’s important to reflect on the incredible, selfless parents who care for the ever-increasing number of children with a ‘spectrum’ diagnosis.

Prevalence statistics for Autism vary around the world and there is no consistent procedure for recording them. Many nations do not even track or report their Autism rates. But whichever way we consider the data, it is heart breaking. According to the most recent CDC estimates, about 1 in 54 children have been identified with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. * The latest statistics from the Department of Health in Northern Ireland shows that one in thirty school age children are now being diagnosed with autism. Some estimates place Hong Kong in ‘first place’ with 1 out of every 27 children having a diagnosed developmental disability. Why does this pandemic continue to slip under the radar? Unless you have been personally touched by autism, or experienced the consequences first hand with friends or family, the full consequences of living with an autism diagnosis can easily be overlooked.

We want to pay special tribute to the parents and carers of our spectrum children. Their love, determination, resilience and unselfish actions will be needed long after this coronavirus crisis has passed. The care they give now and their determination to find answers for these precious children cannot be overestimated and is seldom acknowledged.
To every parent and carer of a ‘spectrum child’: we may not know your child’s name. Your child may not able to say thank you. But we do. And we will continue to seek answers to the Autism ‘pandemic’ so that in years to come each and every child can live with the health and well-being they deserve.

NOT ONLY FOR KIDS

For a fascinating look at the 'big picture' of mind-body-environment, read the leaflet 'Kids in the UK - a picture of health?'https://beyond-gm.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Beyond-GM_Kids-Health-Leaflet_A4_Final.pdf

"More and more research is now linking a poorly functioning microbiome to raised incidences of autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders,
schizophrenia, dyslexia, learning and behavioural difficulties. It may also have some impact on moods since it is estimated that 90% of the body’s serotonin –
an important mood-regulating neurotransmitter – is made in the gut.

A poorly balanced microbiome can also become a self-perpetuating problem. For instance, stress and anxiety can affect its composition, which in turn can affect
levels of stress and anxiety. An unhealthy microbiome is also linked to allergies and sensitivities, which if left unaddressed can further disrupt the microbiome.

CHANGE CAN COME QUICKLY The process of treating childhood
illnesses through the gut takes commitment and a new mind-set about
food priorities"

At Nutrigenomic Medicine, we know that what we eat modulates gene activity to create or destroy health. And there is no 'one' diet that's right for everyone - after all, it's not just any body, it's your body!
