‘Being told I might not make my 30th birthday was the wake-up call I needed.’

After learning that his weight was putting his life at risk, all John could think of was his family – and the moments he’d miss unless he made a significant change 💔… so that’s what he did.

With the support he found at his local Slimming World group, John lost a staggering 16st 12lbs (107kg) and turned his life around. Instead of being at risk of dying young, he’s now feeling healthy, confident and excited for the future – and has maintained his weight for more than two years 👏.

‘This Diabetes Week, I want other people to know that change is possible when you are kind to yourself and have the right support. Small changes add up to make a big difference to your health 🙌.’

After being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and becoming increasingly worried about her health, Michelle joined Slimming World to make sure she’d be around to see her grandchildren grow up ❤️. With the right support and by making small, sustainable changes, she began to feel more confident in managing her health – and over time, she noticed significant improvements. Now 7st 10lbs (49kg) lighter, she finds everything much more manageable and her blood sugar levels are in a normal range 💪.

8th-14th June 2026 - Diabetes Awareness Week

New diabetes prevalence figures show that there are now 4.6 million people in the UK who have a diagnosis of diabetes. Additionally, an estimated 6.3 million people live with non-diabetic hyperglycaemia, more commonly known as prediabetes. A further 1.3 million are living with undiagnosed type 2 diabetes. This means that more than 12 million people in the UK, or one in five adults, have either diabetes or prediabetes.

Slimming World and Diabetes UK have come together to share expertise on weight
loss, long-term healthy eating and diabetes. In partnership, we aim to support people living with all types of diabetes, and those at risk of developing type 2 diabetes, to manage their weight in a way that works for them.

An evaluation, published in the journal Archives of Diabetes & Obesity in 2021, showed that, of the Slimming World members surveyed:
📊33.9% of those with type 2 diabetes reported their diabetes had gone into remission; this increased to 51% for those who’d lost at least 10% of their body weight
📊61% were able to reduce or stop taking their diabetes medication
📊81% saw improvements in their blood glucose (also known as blood sugar levels)
management
📊80% reported an improved quality of life
📊76% found it easy to follow our Food Optimising eating plan alongside the dietary advice from their healthcare team.
The latest evaluation also includes members living with type 1 diabetes, with 88% reporting improvements in their blood sugar levels.

💜👗👚Clothes Throw part 2 complete!👚👗💜

216 more purple bags have made their journey from Warfield to a depot in Farnham to be sorted and distributed to Cancer Research UK shops. Added to part 1, we have reached a total of 880 bags, with earning potential of £22-£26.4k!

Slimming World members in the local area have slimmed out of rather a lot of clothes 😉

A huge thank you to everyone who donated to our first Clothes Throw collection on Monday 27 April - your generosity is already making a difference.

We have 1 more week to fill another truck and our final collection will be going from a home address in Warfield, Bracknell on Monday 11 May.

👖👕👞The Clothes Throw has begun! 🎒👚👗

Collecting clothes our fabulous Slimming World members have slimmed out of (amongst other welcome donations) ready to head to Cancer Research UK shops!

Collecting at Braybrooke rec until 10:30am then St Sebastian's cricket pavilion RG40 3XA 2-4pm.

Each purple bag can raise up to £30 (with gift aid) and we hit £3.1m across the company last year 💜 😀

‘I’ve gone from just existing to really living!’ Raise the roof for Fiona, who has been named Slimming World’s Greatest Loser 2026 👑! She’s lost a jaw-dropping 20st 8.5lbs (130.9kg) 😱 after years of putting her life on hold because of her weight 💔

At 35st (222.3kg), Fiona believed weight loss surgery was her only hope, so she joined her local Slimming World group with a plan to lose the 3st (19kg) needed to qualify. As the weight came off, she realised she could keep going without the need for surgery and her world began to open up 🤩

From avoiding leaving the house to loving being active, exploring new places and saying ‘yes’ to every adventure 🥹 Fiona has truly transformed her life.
