How old do you have to be to be considered old?
1. Question Language and assumptions
Instead of βYou look great for your ageβ better is βYou look great.β
Instead of βStuck in your waysβ better is βWhy do you do it that way?β
2. Get Talking
Talk about it with friends, family and colleagues β have they experienced ageism either overtly or without realising?
3. Improve representation
Look at the media. Who is visible? Whoβs missing? Call on media and advertisers to limit stereotypes. Could you post something positive on your own social media?
4. Learn more
Get inspired by peopleβs experiences of ageism and how they challenged it? Do you have your own hidden prejudices? What is old to you? Why? Question yourself and your own perceptions.
5. Get involved
Could you create an event at your workplace that helps make the a change β go online and download some resources that will make a difference?
