June's Contact Point will be closed on June 20th to allow the Youth Cafe team to prepare for the open day. Denholme's Dementia Hub will proceed with a slightly earlier finish time. We encourage you to visit and discover what the youth cafe in Denholme has to offer, including a cake stall, refreshments, and a tombola. If you require assistance or need to contact us, please message our page or email [email protected]. 🥳

Dementia is an umbrella term for many different forms of dementia. We are aware that this can lead to confusion eg “dementia can lead to Alzheimer’s”
Please see the attached which lists 10 forms of dementia. If you have any concerns please drop in to see us at Keighley Library on a Wednesday between 11:00am and 2:00 pm or contact us to make an appointment

Did you know, you can reduce the risk of dementia?

In 40% of cases there are 6 simple things you can do that will help keep your mind in great shape.

✅ You are more active
✅ You don’t smoke and you drink less alcohol
✅ You eat healthily
✅ You have regular hearing and sight checks
✅ You have social contact and keep your brain active
✅ You manage your health
Remember quiz nights, crosswords and a good old chat? Your brain loves that stuff.

Stay smart. Stay consistent. Keep Living Well.

Help us grow! We'd love for more members to join our group so we can continue to welcome and support even more people. Word-of-mouth helps. We believe supporting carers is just as important as supporting those with a diagnosis. Help us grow our network of followers. 💖 💖

This year’s Forget Me Not Appeal is just around the corner, when we’ll be asking everyone to wear their forget-me-not badge throughout the month of June.

This small blue flower represents remembrance, and has long been associated with dementia.

But there are a few different blue flower badges, and we’re often asked what they mean, and who can wear them. None of them mean the wearer has dementia, but here’s what they do represent:

💙 The light blue fabric flower pin is our Forget Me Not Appeal badge. Supporters of the Forget Me Not Appeal wear their badge not only to promote awareness of dementia, but also in memory of or in tribute to a loved one.

💙 Our blue metal flower pin is a symbol for anyone who wants to raise awareness of dementia and support people affected by the condition. Many organisations have flowers, ribbons and other symbols to represent their charity – this is ours.

💙 Our Dementia Friend badge is worn by individuals who have learned a bit more about dementia, what it might be like for someone living with the condition and are ready to take dementia-friendly action. Wearing this badge lets a person living with dementia know that you understand and can provide help.

If you choose to wear any of our three badges, we’d love to hear what it means to you.
