The word 'dementia' describes a set of symptoms that over time can affect memory, problem-solving, language and behaviour.

Dementia is caused by different diseases that damage the brain. The symptoms get worse over time and include:

> memory loss
> confusion and needing help with daily tasks
> problems with language and understanding
> changes in behaviour

A member shared a game they loved, and we all had a blast playing it today! We're always striving to make our monthly sessions truly person-centered. We tried our best to find it. ❤️

People living with dementia may carry out the same activity, make the same gesture, say the same thing or ask the same question over and over. Repetition may be because of memory loss.

There are some things we can try when supporting someone with dementia who is showing repetitive behaviour.

Tips include being patient, keeping a level and calm tone, having an allocated place for an item that is often looked for or finding an engaging activity they enjoy to shift their focus.⁣
