Getting a good balance of nutrients into children isn’t always easy!
We’d love to say that all the nutrients children need can come from food, but tastes, preferences, busy schedules and budgets can all affect what ends up on their plates and in their mouths.
This is where carefully selected supplements can help.
They can fill nutritional gaps in the diet or provide additional support when specific needs arise, such as during periods of growth, increased activity or recovery from illness.
But not all children’s supplements are created equal
Some contain very low levels of nutrients, alongside added sugars or sweeteners. We’ve assessed lots of brands over the years and always come back to Nature’s Plus.
Their Animal Parade range combines fun animal shapes and fruity flavours with a comprehensive range of vitamins and minerals.
The important thing is to be selective and give your child only the supplements they actually need.
Our nutritionists can help you work out what those might be. We’ll talk to you about what your child eats, how they sleep and their lifestyle before making personalised recommendations.

Magnesium : The calming one 💚
Magnesium plays an important role in nervous system function, muscle health and energy production. It’s often considered when looking at sleep, stress and muscle recovery.
We get magnesium from foods such as green vegetables, beans, pulses, nuts and wholegrains, but children with limited food choices may not always get enough.
It can be difficult to fit a meaningful amount of magnesium into a small tablet or capsule, so a powder can be a useful option.
This one contains magnesium citrate, which can also help support bowel regularity.
Vitamin D : The sunshine vitamin ☀️
Vitamin D is essential for healthy bones, teeth, muscles and immune function.
Our bodies make vitamin D when sunlight reaches the skin, but in the UK, the sun isn’t strong enough for us to make sufficient vitamin D between October and early March.
And, of course, we also need to protect children’s skin from excess
