Let this sink in:
No matter how much we do, there will always be more to do.
This month, I’ve been consciously working on slowing down and noticing when I’m rushing.
I thought slowing down would immediately help regulate my nervous system.
But initially, it did the opposite—it put my nervous system on high alert.
Because I’ve spent a lifetime rushing, keeping busy and getting s**t done. Slowing down didn’t feel natural or safe; my mind kept reminding me of everything I should be doing.
So, I’m consciously changing the story of my life from:
“There’s so much to do.”
“I don’t have enough time.”
To:
“Everything that needs to be done will get done.”
“I have plenty of time.”
I’ve been speaking gently to my nervous system and reminding it that it’s safe to slow down—but, more importantly, I’ve been showing it consistently.
Because that’s the language it understands.
I haven’t made this change overnight. It has taken small, gradual and consistent steps over the past few weeks.
Each time I pause instead of rushing…
Each time I leave something until tomorrow…
Each time I choose presence over productivity…
I’m showing my body that slowing down is safe.
There will always be more to do.
But I don’t have to rush through my life trying to do it all. 🤍
