A new school term can bring excitement, but it can also feel like a big adjustment.
For autistic and ADHD children and young people, changes to routine, new experiences, sensory overwhelming environments and lots of expectations may take time to settle into. Preparing ahead, keeping communication open and allowing space to regulate can all help make the transition feel more comfortable.
There is no one right way to approach the return to school. The most helpful support is often the support that works for the individual child.
