I love this pose, particularly when I find a patch of sun to practice in. ☀️
Pasasana (Noose Pose) asks for strength, balance, and mobility all at once. I love the feeling of creating space through the spine while gently twisting and grounding through the feet. It's a reminder that sometimes the most challenging poses can also be the most rewarding.

A few have reached out and asked... What is Myofascial release?
Fascia is the collagenous tissue which spreads throughout the body, connecting and surrounding all parts of the body in a fluid filled three dimensional web. Throughout life, trauma, posture and/or inflammation can create restrictions in this tissue which will , in turn, put pressure on nerves, muscles, bones, blood vessels and/or organs.

The John F Barnes Myofascial Release Approach consists of the gentle application of sustained pressure into the fascial restrictions.

With time, these restrictions soften (due to the piezoelectric phenomenon). As restrictions soften, the pressure is taken off pain sensitive structures and fluid is able to move back into the tissue area thus allowing both the return of movement (range of motion) as well as the nutrients that travel through this fluid to all cells in the body.

Myofascial release treatments are oil free, hands on treatments where the goal is to locate and release the cause of the problem not simply treating the symptoms repeatedly.

It can treat many conditions including and not limited to:

Back Pain
Cervical Pain
Chronic Pain
Headaches
Scoliosis
Fibromyalgia
Spasm/Spasticity
Carpal Tunnel
Neck Pain
Rehabilitation
Sport Injuries
Jaw Pain (TMJ)
Restricted Motion

My amazing Friend Melissa Wasserfall will be offering Myofascial release treatments in thr Wee therapy room from July 2 - 9th.

Melissa Wasserfall's interest in holistic healing started at the age of 16, when she was told she'd need facial surgery for a blocked sinus from a neck injury. She sought out alternative methods and was healed through Homeopathy and Ayurveda. She took her first trainings in 1992 in therapeutic massage, and energy healing, and has since expanded into multiple healing modalities such as cranio sacral, phytotherapy, and remedial massage. She is currently using the John Barnes myofascial release method in her treatment work. This method has brought lasting healing to her own injuries and to her clients.

Melissa is a yoga instructor with over 25 years of teaching experience. She also works for Transport Canada, for the Federal Government of Canada as a Team Lead in Civil Aviation. She is a mother of two young men and two cats. She currently resides in Canada, but is originally from Edinburgh. She enjoys traveling, laughing a lot, learning constantly and seeking out new experiences, with her partner, friends and family.

She will be offering myofascial release treatments at The Wee Yoga Room between July 2 - 9. To book an appointment please email [email protected]

Looking at the benefits of individual poses .... What’s your favourite yoga pose right now?

Mine is probably Pincha Mayurasana ( ideally on the shores of a loch! 😂).
Benefits include:
Shoulder and core strength, improving balance and body awareness, encouraging patience and persistence (because it definitely doesn’t happen overnight 😂) .

Send me your favourite pose for discussion!! Including pics if you can ..

Francesca is continuing her Tuesday 18:00 classes at the WYR over the summer. Her classes are open to everybody:)
