Taken a break in training? Struggling to start again?
You and me both.. I’ve spent the last 8 - 9 years training calisthenics and it took just 6 months to lose loads of progress..
I feel weaker than I have in years.. Very depressing, after all the hard work I put in
I’ve had some big life changes, (moving country and changing jobs) which put training on the back seat
Now I’m settled, I can put energy back into what I love.. But damn, have I got a lot of catching up to do!
But the thing is.. I truly love what I do.. So there is no option for me but to get back to it
There’s 5 things I’m focusing on, to ensure I stay motivated and committed →
✦ Starting slow - Building up the capacity train, slowly, to avoid burnout and injury
✦ Training foundations - Staple ‘most bang for your buck’ calisthenics/ mobility movement patterns
✦ Routine - Having a routine that I know I can stick to, long term
✦ No expectations - My body needs time to adjust, I’m not expecting magic in the first month or two
✦ Enjoyment - What is training without enjoyment? Throwing in exercises and routines I look forward to
If you are in the same boat as me, feel free to reach out.
