Lina’s story is a big part of why Breathe exists.

After treatment for throat cancer and radiotherapy, physical and mental recovery became her next chapter, and we’ve been lucky enough to support her through it.

Hey guys. We’ve been overwhelmed (in the best way) today with so many new faces, so we thought it was time to reintroduce ourselves.

We are the co-founders of Breathe, a home designed for everyone.🪴

Human beings are complex systems, and there’s no real manual for what to do when things fall out of alignment. That’s where we come in.

We know current institutions are under immense pressure, and that many conditions, especially chronic ones, are often pushed to the back of the queue. We’ve known the power of these treatments for a long time, but we also know that sometimes what people need most is to be heard, seen, and acknowledged.

From the very beginning, we understood something the wider industry avoided: the people who most need this kind of support are often the least able to afford it. We made a deliberate decision to reduce the cost of access and rebuilt the model around affordability, not profit.

That choice hasn’t come without resistance. Along the way, we’ve been misled and watched others try to replicate what Breathe is, not for the mission, but for a quick buck.

One of the very first people we met after opening was Ren, whom we’d known from watching him busk in Brighton. His resilience was deeply inspiring, especially to Matt, who knows what it’s like to watch life pass by from a bed. Those early conversations helped shape Breathe into what it is today.

Since then, we’ve seen over 15,000 people. What began as a proof of concept has become living evidence that this model works. We’ve laughed, cried, and walked through grief and loss together.

There was a third founding member, one who would have loved every single one of you. When people arrived broken and exhausted, he would quietly offer a toy and his paw. That was Jimmy. If you read our reviews, you’ll meet him there.

We’ve spent the last year laying the foundations and we’re excited to show you what’s next.

Our teacher and friend, Dr Joe Dituri, left us with a phrase from his days as a US Navy commander: “Nemo Resideo”. Leave no one behind.

Strap in, it’s going to be a hell of a ride.
