🍂Autumn in Traditional Chinese Medicine🍂

Autumn is a season of transition and letting go – the energy in nature goes inward. The Metal Element governs autumn and it’s linked to Lungs and Large Intestine – the organs that are responsible for taking in – breath and letting go – physically, mentally and emotionally.
It is time to release what is not longer needed just like the trees shed their leaves.

TCM tips for autumn:

🍁Nourish your lungs with warm soups, pears, ginger and white vegetables
🍁Breathe deeply – autumn air helps strengthen the Lung Qi
🍁Let go of old emotions or habits that no longer serve you
🍁Protect your Qi from cold wind, especially your neck and chest
🍁Create balance between activity and quiet reflection

By letting go we create a space for new beginnings ahead.

🌷It’s spring time!🌷

In Chinese Medicine spring is associated with the element of Wood, linked to Liver and Gall Bladder.
Balance your body, emotions according to natural rhythms of the season.

🥬Eat fresh, green vegetables to support your Liver, release the toxins by drinking herbal teas like dandelion and peppermint or eating bitter vegetables like kale. Fresh vegetables will also help to energize your body.

🚵‍♀️Go outside for a walk, do gentle exercises to allow the smooth flow of Qi, and to improve your mood and detox your body.

⛱ Keep the balance and do not overdo activities. Remember to rest and relax too.

🌬 Keep warm. The weather may feel warm but avoid exposing your body to drafts and cold. Protect your lower back and abdomen because your body is still adjusting to the changing temperatures.

🍅LATE SUMMER🍅

👉in this time of the year there is an abundance of food. We should eat lots of various vegetables, fruit and whole grain
👉we can eat raw as well as cooked, steamed and stewed vegetables, not too complicated meals
👉grains are better if soaked before cooking – they cook faster and are easier to digest. They can also be sprouted before cooking
👉soups in this season are more thick than in summer and it is good to add green vegetables at the end of cooking
👉some time after the meal we can drink warm fluids. After cold drinks the Stomach cannot take energy from the food
👉this season has the most influence on our Spleen and Stomach – digestion – converting food into energy – Qi
👉yellow, golden, round, cooked and slightly sweet foods harmonize the digestion
