🌟 Star patient 🌟

Jasper was referred to me in June 2025. He had experienced a grade 5 spinal cord injury, caused by an L3/4 intervertebral disc extrusion. Prior to surgery he had paralysis of his hind legs and had loss of deep pain sensation. He underwent spinal surgery at the fantastic

The first video is from my assessment of him in June 2025, and he required a sling to walk with due to paresis (weakness caused by nerve injury) to his back legs.

The second video is a review this week, and I was thrilled to see how well he is moving, after months and months of physiotherapy treatment and home exercises completed diligently by his owners.

Dogs with this severity of injury do not always make such a good recovery, and although his movement is not perfect, he is able to get around and still have a good quality of life.

🌟 Canine Physiotherapy 🌟

🔵 Here is little Bruce enjoying some Pulsed Electromagnetic Therapy at the end of his physiotherapy session yesterday, after exercises.

🔵 Bruce was referred from his vet with Patellar Maltracking, a painful condition where the patellar (knee cap) is not tracking well in the trochlear groove of the femur (thigh bone).

🔵 At each appointment, Bruce’s gait is assessed (as can be seen in the video). He slightly adducts the right hind leg under his body still due to weakness in his gluteal and quadriceps muscles, but this is improving.

🔵 Bruce’s owners have been very diligently completing his exercises daily, and he has stopped skipping out on his walks 🙌🏻

Keep your furry friends safe in the heat! ☀️🐾

With temperatures hitting 26°C, it's important to remember: pets feel the heat even more than we do. Here's how to protect them:

🚫 No walkies during midday heat – Stick to early morning or evening.
🚗 Never leave pets in cars – Even with windows down, it’s deadly.
💧 Keep them cool & hydrated – Fresh water and shade are a must.
🐶 Watch for signs of heatstroke – Excessive panting, drooling, or lethargy? Call us immediately.

As part of our extensive bridle-horse interaction research, using state of the art measuring equipment, we are conducting a scientific study comparing behaviour, noseband and headpiece pressures, and rein tension for horses ridden in a bitless bridles and a snaffle bridle.

𝗪𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿:
🐴Horses and riders who compete in dressage with a snaffle bridle
🐴Horses and riders who regularly train in a bitless bridle (side pull or cross under. Not a hackamore)
🐴Both horse and rider must be accustomed to both the snaffle and bitless bridle, and will be required to carry out a short ridden test (walk, trot, canter, transitions and turns) to confirm suitability.
